Trivia / Famicom Detective Club

  • All-Star Cast: Not only does the remake have Megumi Ogata voicing the protagonist and Yuko Minaguchi as Ayumi, but includes industry vets like Akio Ōtsuka, Atsuko Tanaka, Shin-ichiro Miki, Shigeru Chiba, Tomokazu Sugita, and Yuu Kobayashi.
  • Colbert Bump: A variant. The series originally became known in the West when Ayumi Tachibana appeared in Super Smash Bros. Melee as a trophy, which led to the creation of a Fan Translation for one of the games. However, the series wouldn't see any official release in the West until they were remade two decades later.
  • Content Leak: The Nintendo Switch remakes were dumped online two weeks ahead of their international release.
  • Creator's Oddball: This series acts as one for the entirety of Nintendo. While they have dabbled with content for older audiences in some markets (as well as publishing third-party games with mature content and subject matter), you wouldn't normally expect the family-friendly company to release first-party murder mystery games.
  • He Also Did: Yoshio Sakamoto, the storywriter for these games, is far better known for being the lead producer for another suspense-filled series: Metroid.
  • Late Export for You: It took nearly 33 years for the first two games to get any kind of release outside of Japan.
  • No Dub for You: The 2021 remakes only have Japanese voice acting.
  • No Export for You: None of the Detective Club games had ever seen a release outside of Japan until the first two games were remade for the Nintendo Switch. That's only the remakes, for the record, with the originals still being Japan-only. There's no word on Lost Memories, but considering the status of Satellaview entries for more popular franchises, even a Japan-only rerelease seems unlikely.
  • Remade for the Export: The first two Detective Club games didn't get localized for Western territories until 2021, in the form of remakes.
  • Role Reprise: Yuko Minaguchi returns to voice Ayumi after previously voicing her in the Satellaview exclusive Lost Memories in the Snow 24 years prior.
