Trivia / Everwood

  • Banned Episode: "Episode 20" which dealt with the topic of abortion was never reran due to how controversial it was(as unlike most episodes of TV shows tackling abortion that aired around the same time, the character who is pregnant actually goes through with the abortion).
  • Cast Incest: Emily VanCamp dated Chris Pratt, her on-screen brother.
  • The Other Darrin: Nina's son was played by a total of three different kid actors.
  • Market-Based Title: In the UK, the series was shown on ITV as Our New Life In Everwood (subsequent screenings on other channels reverted to the original title).
  • Screwed by the Network: Cut Short so that the network could produce another show, past its prime days. This was so bad that Everwood fans rented a Ferris wheel outside of Dawn Ostroff's offices, attempting to help renew the show, but to no avail.
  • Sending Stuff to Save the Show: Rented a Ferris wheel outside of Dawn Ostroff's offices — that's big.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • An alternate ending was filmed for the Season 4 finale, back when the producers were hoping to get renewed for a fifth season. Madison returns to Everwood, and Amy is left waiting at the Ferris wheel as Ephram meets up with his ex-girlfriend?(who wants him to help her get her child back). There were several plans for Season 5, including Nina being pregnant with Jake's child, more of a focus on Delia, Nina and Andy's wedding, the return of Andy's father, and Ephram and Hannah getting together.
    • For the finale, there was a scene scripted, but not filmed, where a majority of the cast gets back together forty years into the future for Andy's funeral. This was dropped because the producers were hoping for a fifth season and also due to budget constraints.
    • Hannah was originally planned to be a stalker who was obsessed with Amy and wanted to "replace" her, once that information got leaked fan reaction was almost universally negative, with many claiming the storyline was far too much like One Tree Hill and felt horribly out of place in the show, so Hannah's character was radically changed as a result of the backlash.
    • Andy was originally going to be an Abortionist doctor, but the network wasn't prepared for that level of controversy. Instead they compromised with Berlanti to instead to do a Very Special Episode focused on abortion in season one.
