Trivia / Disney's Animated Storybook

Go To

  • Abandonware: Unlike with Living Books, Disney has no intention of re-releasing this series to modern devices anytime soon. Worse yet, they're much harder to find than the likes of other Abandonware games because Disney has unlimited ESA protection on all of its titles; this means they're a no-go on sites such as Abandonia.
  • Celebrity Voice Actor: Basketball player Chris Webber guest starred in the Pocahontas storybook.
  • Follow the Leader: These games were very obviously trying to follow the success of the Living Books series. In fact, they may have been one of the first clones to get mainstream attention, if only because of the Disney brand, which is why "storybook games" became a genre in and of itself not very long after.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: The Animated Storybook series never saw a re-release since they first hit store shelves in The '90s.
  • The Other Darrin:
    • In Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree, Eeyore is voiced by Brad Garrett rather than Peter Cullen, Eeyore's current voice actor. Amsuingly, Garrett later voiced the character in the live-action movie Christopher Robin. Owl, Roo, Piglet, Christopher Robin and the Narrator did not have their standard voices either in The Honey Tree.
    • None of the original 101 Dalmatians voice actors returned, some of whom reprised their roles from the TV series.
    • Simba and Scar's voice actors were replaced in The Lion King.
    • Eddie Murphy did not return for Mulan.
    • Mel Gibson and Christian Bale did not return for Pocahontas.
    • Tom Hanks' brother, Jim, replaced him as Woody in Toy Story, while Buzz was played by Pat Fraley instead of Tim Allen.
    • Flounder and Grimsby are recast in Ariel's Story Studio, due to Flounder's previous actors' voice changing and Ben Wright's death. Here, Flounder is voiced by Courtland Mead and Grimsby is voiced by Nick Jameson.
  • Role Reprise: Most of the voice actors from The Little Mermaid reprise their roles in Ariel's Story Studio, released in 1997.
