- Franchise Killer: After the poor reception of Desperados 2 and Helldorado, the Desperados franchise was abandoned for a good decade, until Mimimi Games and THQ Nordic took over and released Desperados 3.

- Screwed by the Lawyers: The sequel, Desperados 2: Cooper's Revenge, has been released in France under the title Western Commandos: La Revanche de Cooper (the second part of the title being a litteral translation) because the Fischer Brewery
(French beer producer which one of its products is named "Desperados") sued the releaser of the game. - Screwed by the Network: Helldorado was originally planned to be an expansion pack for Desperados 2 with the name Desperados: Conspiracy. However Atari missed several payments to Spellbound, prompting them to release the game as a stand-alone under a different publisher, Viva Media. Since the latter could not acquire the rights to the Desperado name, it was cut from the released product (so yeah, the game's called just Helldorado, not Desperados: Helldorado).
