  • Cast the Runner-Up: Ariana Saavedra, Patricia Maqueo and Mauro Sánchez Navarro had all originally auditioned for Sofia, Natalia and Gerry and were instead cast as Regina, Rosita and Bruno after those parts went to Ana Valeria Becerril, Macarena García and Patricio Gallardo.
  • Creator Backlash: The first time he read the script, Patricio Gallardo (Gerry) openly admitted to hating the character (initially unaware it was going to be him) due to his cruel attitude as a heartless bully and even pitied whoever was going to land the role. However, Gallardo ultimately decided to take it as a challenge to try and empathize with the origins behind those tendencies.
  • The Danza: Luis is played by Luis Curiel.
  • Darkhorse Casting: This is the first time Samantha Acuña has appeared on a TV show.
  • Dawson Casting: The teenage characters are all played by actors in their early to late twenties.
  • Fake Mexican:
    • Zión Moreno is a Mexican-American from Texas who plays Isabela, who's supposed to be Mexican. However, on a couple occasions she speaks a bit of English with an American accent.
    • Spanish actress Lidia San José plays the Biology teacher Gabriela, also a Mexican. However, Gabriela speaks with her natural accent in the third season after she is Put on a Bus.
    • Ariana Saavedra (Regina) is Venezuelan.
  • Queer Character, Queer Actor: Isabela, who's a trans girl, is played by Zión Moreno, who shares her gender.
  • Multiple Languages, Same Voice Actor: For the English dub, Zión Moreno reprised her role of Isabela in Season 1.
  • Romance on the Set: Actors Yankel Stevan and Macarena García, whose characters (Raúl and Natalia) have zero feelings for each other, met on set and started dating shortly after filming began.
  • What Could Have Been:
    • Ariana Saavedra auditioned for both Sofía and Regina. She got the latter part.
    • Patricia Maqueo auditioned for both Natalia and Rosita. She got the latter part.
    • Mauro Sánchez Navarro auditioned for both Gerry and Bruno. He got the latter part.
    • Lidia San José was initially offered the role of Nora, Sofía's mother. However, she turned it down, because she thought she wouldn't be a fitting choice to play a mother, and was instead given the part of Gabriela, the school's biology teacher as well as Alex's secret girlfriend. The former part was passed on to Rocío Verdejo.
    • Ariana Saavedra was originally hired to appear in 12 scenes. The producers were impressed by her skills in front of the camera and discipline that they decided to increase her relevance and screentime on the series.
  • Written-In Absence: Isabela's absence in season two is a product of her respective actress Zión Moreno being cast for the Gossip Girl reboot.
    • María's limited appearances and decision of the writers to kill off the character in season three are in light of her actress Fiona Palomo getting cast for the third season of the series Outer Banks.
