Trivia / Children's Party at the Palace

Go To

  • All-Star Cast: The characters are all played by legendary and well-known stars across the UK, some who have starred in Coronation Street and EastEnders.
    • Some actors have even returned to their roles with their respective characters, such as Dani Harmer returning to play Tracy Beaker.
  • Bad Export for You: Due to the limited availability of this film thanks to its lack of home releases, one-time airing, and only being shown to a UK-exclusive channel, the only way people outside of the United Kingdom could watch it is through reuploads on websites such as YouTube or Dailymotion. Only the latter has the full film (albeit very low quality) at the time of this writing and a new YouTube upload recently resurfaced in a higher quality, albeit some scenes cut. So pretty much you have to hope another full high-quality reupload appears online.
  • Dawson Casting: Some of the characters that are supposed to be children are cast by actors a little older than the ages of the characters they play as (at that time, that is).
    • Luke Tittensor is cast as William from Just William, who is said to be an 11-year-old boy.
    • Dani Harmer as Tracy Beaker.
  • Fake Nationality: Patsy Kensit as the Grand High Witch and Richard O'Brien as the Child-Catcher, whose characters both speak in German accents.
  • Keep Circulating the Tapes: There was never a home release or any other official release for this film. Only way to see it after it aired was from luckily recorded tapes or on video websites like YouTube.
  • Live on Stage!: This production was filmed live at a stage resembling Buckingham Palace in the actual Palace’s gardens featuring many characters from British children's literature.
  • Missing Trailer Scene: In certain TV spots for this film shown on the BBC, there is a scene where the Pirate Queen tells the viewers she belongs in the Palace with her fellow pirates alongside her.
  • No Export for You: This film was only shown on the BBC, a UK-exclusive channel. However, it then turned into more of a Bad Export for You as it eventually showed up on certain websites where people outside of the country can also watch.
  • Prop Recycling: The Thomas the Tank Engine prop seen after the "Step in Time" segment is borrowed over from the Thomas & Friends: The Big Live Tour event.
  • Real-Life Relative: Roald Dahl's granddaughter Sophie narrates a passage from The BFG.
