Trivia / Charlotte

Go To

  • Acting for Two: In the English Dub of the series:
    • Ryan Bartley voiced the Kurobane sisters, Yusa and Misa.
    • Xanthe Huynh voiced both the courageous girl and Honoka.
    • Nao Tomori's mother and the hostess are voiced by Dorothy Elias-Fahn.
  • Anime First: Subverted. Technically, the Charlotte The 4-koma: Seishun o Kakenukero! Yonkoma manga was published before the TV anime started airing note . Though the yonkoma serves as the comedic introduction for audience to the anime main story, such as introducing the characters and their respective abilities, etc. with little to no effect on the anime main storyline.
  • Creator-Driven Successor: Even before the start of the series, Charlotte is boasted by many sources as a successor of Angel Beats!, mainly because the staff that made Charlotte are the same staff that made Angel Beats!, with Jun Maeda being the most mentioned person among them.
  • Creator Killer: The one-two punch of Charlotte and The Day I Became a God ruined all remaining goodwill towards Jun Maeda to the point where most discussions surrounding him and his works in the years afterward concerned his fall from grace, his Franchise Original Sins, and little else.
  • Non-Singing Voice: Similarly to Iwasawa, Sala Shane was voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, but her vocals were provided by marina.
  • Otaku O'Clock: The anime originally aired on Saturday at 24:00 / Sunday at 00:00 JST.
  • Production Posse: Some of the crew who worked on Charlotte were previously involved in Angel Beats!, including director Yoshiyuki Asai, producers Hiroo Maruyama, Yosuke Toba and Kenji Horikawa, line producer Mitsuhito Tsuji, composer/scriptwriter Jun Maeda, character designer Kanami Sekiguchi, sound director Satoki Iida, director of photography Katsufumi Sato, art director Kazuki Higashiji, and sound effects artist Ijo Okuda.
  • Similarly Named Works: Not to be confused with the 2021 Canadian-Belgian-French coproduction animated film Charlotte.
  • Star-Making Role: Ray Chase (tied with Noctis in Final Fantasy XV) as Yuu Otosaka and Ryan Bartley as Yusa and Misa Kurobane.
  • With Charlotte announced with an English dub from Aniplex USA, this makes Charlotte the first Key/Visual Arts anime title to get a dub from Bang Zoom! Entertainment in Los Angeles. Many of the previous Key Visual Arts titles were normally dubbed at Houston with Sentai Filmworks and the defunct ADV Films (Kanon, Air, CLANNAD, Angel Beats!, Little Busters!).
