  • What Could Have Been: When asked about the character of Anthony "Cain" Laughton on Tumblr, Bryan gave a good deal of information about this villain who would frighten even old Beelzebub himself. Cain was meant to be a successor to Hanno Valois, the Villain Protagonist of Bryan's "Hanno Valois Monologues." This series of monologues never saw the light of day due to Bryan feeling that Cain was not protagonist material of any kind since Cain's heroes included Ed Gein, Amon Goth, William Bligh, Harry Powers, Clyde Barrow and Walter Winchell gave the general idea of the sort of person Cain was and why he was not suitable protagonist material be he hero or villain. As Bryan himself said: "From his heroes, we get some idea of what time frame he is supposed to come from: as Amon Goth became famous due to his portrayal in 'Schindler's List' we get the impression he is from the 1990's at the earliest." As for Cain's appearance in Discord Murder Party fan version "Discord Murder Fest", Bryan went on to say that Cain was supposed to be an awakened soul playing at not being awakened and that he would also be an evil character, resulting in him being a contrast to the awakened souls that appear in both podcasts. Bryan also goes on to say that in Cain's debut, he was not supposed to try and assault Grace Garden, he just wanted to legitimately kiss her and then let himself be executed meaning that he was supposed to be a case of Even Evil Has Standards but after Cain's line of "I'd like to give a kiss to that beautiful Grace Garden" everything went a completely different path and he ended up coming out even worse than he was supposed to be.
  • Word of God: On the subject of Cain in "Discord Murder Fest", Bryan has stated that Cain is just a character but the soul whose body he inhabits has not yet awakened and Cain knows this, the character being aware enough of the soul's existence and dreads the day the soul, whom he hatefully calls the "stuttering cripple", will awaken because when he does Cain will cease to exist. Bryan is not even sure if Cain's attraction to Grace Garden was a genuine perverse lust or if he just wanted to scare her and even goes on to say that he probably did not even want to kiss Grace but rather rip her throat out with his teeth, which Bryan acknowledges is hardly an improvement. He goes on to elaborate that Cain is a character specifically created to torment awakened souls, explaining his targeting of Grace since she was the only awakened soul in that scenario. He also states that the birth name of "Anthony Laughton" is derived from Anthony Perkins and Charles Laughton who played Norman Bates, who is based on Ed Gein, and William Bligh respectively. He also explained that "Cain" comes from The Bible but then again most people would know that.
