- Franchise Killer: Art of Fighting 3, which wasn't very well received due to balance issuesnote , appeared to have put the kibosh on the series since no new games have come out since then other than a Compilation Re-release. Fortunately for Ryo and co., they still make appearances in The King of Fighters series.
- No Export for You: Japan got the second game ported to the Super Famicom; it never saw a release in North America.
