The original Honey Girls from 2015, from left to right: Teegan, Risa, and Viv
The Honey Girls is a line of plushies by Build-a-Bear Workshop which started in 2015. It features a trio of three anthropomorphic animals who make up the eponymous rock band, a tiger lead singer named Teegan, a rabbit guitarist named Risa, and a bear percussionist named Viv.

The plushies are rather unique compared to the other plushies by Build-a-Bear, as they appear to be more human-like with heads of hair, more stylized eyes, and their own, pop-inspired style overall.

Between 2015 and 2017 there were three waves themed after the location the Honey Girls performed in, with unique sets of clothes for each and music videos associated with them. The first being Paris, where it introduces two new characters: a dog named Stella and a fox named Misha, the second being New York City, and the last being Los Angeles, where the trio tour and perform there and are accompanied by yet another new character: a leopard makeup artist named Keely.

The series eventually went on a hiatus until 2021, when they came out with a brand-new design, along with a feature-length live action movie featuring Ashanti as Fancy G, released on October 18th, 2021 on DVD and digital and eventually made its way to Netflix in February of 2022.

Discography

Honey Girls provides examples of:

  • Amazing Technicolor Wildlife: All the characters have bright, pop-out colors in their fur and hair.
  • Animal Stereotypes: Teegan is a tiger who is said to live her life loud and strong according to her official description.
  • Art Evolution / Special Effects Evolution: The CGI style of the 2016-2017 music videos differ a lot from the ones back in 2015, from the lighting and shadows and background designs to the textures of the Honey Girls' models. It clearly shows the improvement of what the animation team did for the MVs.
  • Beary Friendly: Viv, being the bear of the trio and would do anything for both her friends.
  • Ears as Hair: In Risa's initial reboot look, two scrunchies wrap around her ears as if they were huge pigtails.
  • Girl Group: All three of the girls make up this.
  • Girlish Pigtails:
    • Viv originally sported pigtails until they were dropped for her hair-down look in 2017 and then a simple ponytail in the reboot.
    • In the reboot, Risa’s ears look like this.
  • Humanity Ensues: Though it never happens In-Universe, the Honey Girls are portrayed as humans with completely different names in the movie, with only masks and ear headbands referencing the respective plushies they represent. This was never explained why exactly, but it's likely because Most Writers Are Human.
  • Idol Singer: All of the girls, though Teegan fits this trope the most. She was known to be the biggest celebrity singer in Bearville and even becoming the idol of Pawlette in the series Bearville Alive!
  • Live-Action Adaptation: The movie, which incorporates human versions of the characters along with renames (Alex is Teegan, Charlie is Risa, and Maya is Viv) and changes to the vague lore this toyline has.
  • Power Trio: The girls themselves make up this trio.
  • To the Tune of...: The holiday song Reindeer Bells is essentially a remix of "Jingle Bells", just with different lyrics.
  • Vague Age: It isn't very clear how old the Honey Girls are or the exact age range, but early music videos show that they're school-aged, though the backgrounds are reminiscent of an elementary school, including playground scenes. Though their voices heard in their songs sound much older, between being teenage and adult-like. However, the earlier music videos could just be showing the girls in their earlier years as performers, with the later ones showing them a little bit aged up (possibly adolescent).
