Tear Jerker / Winter of '83

• With K83FC the main focus of the story, viewers learn of how far the station had fallen: the station has had its signal hijacked multiple times, its original programming is considered lackluster, and it's forced to air syndicated shows that could be found on other better channels. Segment 2 reveals that the FCC is on the verge of shutting it down so they can use the frequency for emergency usage. The reporter in that segment had been there for five years and wasn't about to let it fall... too bad the monsters showed up.
  • A particularly cruel case of the chain being yanked in Segment 11 comes in when, after being denied their stimulus twice, the station offers the usage of one of their personal snowplows to help with the abnormal blizzard, to which the mayor becomes willing to give them that stimulus after all. Then Deputy Blair comes in, trying to warn everyone of the monsters, but it is too late. The monsters arrive, in the form of Stephen Millbanks, and slaughter everyone present.
  • Segment 13 further twists the knife. While it is indeed terrifying to hear the Deadline News, it's also rather tragic to see the station be finished off for good, their airwaves now being used to assist the monsters' Assimilation Plot.
• "Late Night Movie" features an unnamed woman recording B-Roll of a snow-covered park for the station, who (knowing her audio would eventually get removed in post) takes the time to tell her boyfriend, Alan, how grateful she is for him, and accepts the proposal he had given to her recently... and then she stumbles across one of the creatures, and is killed.
• Darcy Millbanks had enlisted the help of Carl Denby to help find her brother Stephen, who had gone missing recently, with the police just assuming he eloped instead of actually looking into it. The problem? He worked as a janitor at Scott's Manor.
  • To make matters worse, she never truly gets to learn he died; she mistook the Snowlem that broke into the city council meeting as him, and by the time she started to realize what it was, it proceeded to kill everyone in the building.
• Deputy Blair is rightfully pissed when he calls out Mayor Daniels for sending the rest of the police out to die by having them go to Scott's Manor.
  Mayor Daniels: We've been trying to get in touch with the police department for days, where the hell has everyone been?!
  Deputy Blair: (agitated) Where have they been? Where have they been!? (storms up to the Mayor and grabs him) THEY'RE AT SCOTT'S FUCKING MANOR, WHERE YOU TOLD THEM TO GO!!
  Mayor Daniels: I— that was days ago!
  Deputy Blair: THEY NEVER CAME BACK! THEIR CARS ARE STILL FUCKING OUT THERE! I FOUND SHERIFF DOUGLAS' BADGE IN A SNOWBANK COVERED IN BLOOD! YOU FUCKING SENT THEM OUT THERE TO DIE!!!
  • In the same segment, Daniels says that the town needed the money from whatever group was running the experiments that ran out of Scott's Manor. The town was doomed one way or another.
