Tear Jerker / The Lost World: Jurassic Park

  • Poor Hammond has been through a lot by the time of this movie. He's mostly bedridden, has Ingen taken away from him by his own nephew, and requires help from Malcolm and other Gatherers to save the dinosaurs from being captured and removed from their habitat. This is also his last movie appearance before dying off-screen by the time of Jurassic World.
  • Hammond's team has to watch Ludlow's team capturing dinosaurs and mistreating them on a "safari". It's like watching poachers capturing rare animal species for profit without any regard for said animals' lives...except Ludlow's mercenaries are not poachers since the beasts technically belong to InGen and do not have any rights, as Ludlow later points out. No wonder Nick Van Owen wants to sabotage said safari.
  • Poor Eddie, who's the only one lucky enough not to be in the Mobile Lab with the baby Tyrannosaur, hence when it goes over the cliff he's able to come to the rescue. He is one of the few genuinely likable characters, is one of the few truly heroic people on the "heroic" side, saves the others' lives by wrapping the line around the tree, and puts up with them jokingly ordering fast food when he asks if they need anything else. And how is he rewarded? By being ripped in half by the Tyrannosaur buck and doe while the others can do nothing to help. Worse, his dart gun gets stuck at the worst moment, meaning his horrible death could have been (narrowly) averted but for sheer bad luck.
  • Roland's reaction after discovering what happened to Ajay, and his departure shortly afterwards.
Roland: I believe I've spent too much time in the company of death.
  • Even though they are very dangerous animals going around killing and eating people, you can't really blame the Tyrannosaur parents for being distressed over losing their baby (twice, it must be noted). You gotta feel bad for the T Rex Buck when he was captured, drugged to insanity, and wandering around in an unfamiliar habitat, wondering where his wife and kid are. It also makes you think how the T Rex Doe is feeling back on the island when her family was taken from her. It's a miracle that all three reunite by the end.
    • You'd also feel bad for the baby T. rex himself, for being kidnapped numerous times and having his leg injured. If you listen to his roars, you don't see a miniature monster; you see a scared child crying for his mom and dad.
  • Not to mention poor Kelly having to witness all those deaths and getting chased by dinosaurs who almost had her. And it's all because she snuck with Malcolm's group, unaware of what she got herself into. She even had to steel herself long enough to save her dad from being killed by a raptor. Once she and the adults made it off the island, she's left in tears, and had to be comforted by her dad.
  • The family's reaction after seeing that the T. rex buck ate their dog during the rampage in San Diego.
