- You thought the story's Downer Beginning was bad in the game proper? This fanfic cranks the sadness up to eleven, and then some!
- Red tries to have his Pokémon flee from Galeem's lasers, but the three refuse, wanting to be with him to the very end.
- Yoshi makes a Heroic Sacrifice to save Mario from Galeem's beams. Of course, Yoshi's act was All for Nothing, as Mario mourns the loss of his companion as he gets captured. He also believes Luigi to be dead, as he lost contact with him during the escape.
- The Ice Climbers Face Death with Dignity, hugging each other as a laser tags them.
- Easily the biggest tear-jerker of this scene is Snake's moment. Instead of him hiding in a cardboard box being a Crowning Moment of Funny as was in the game, he actually has a panic attack as he hides in his box. He manages to contact Otacon... only for Galeem's beam to take Otacon out. Further hammering this home? Otacon spends his last moments looking for Sunny. The only consolation we get is Snake was able to open a wormhole and jump inside it mere seconds before his box is destroyed, allowing him to survive the onslaught.
Otacon: Sunny? Where are you? Sunny?! SUNN- *gets disintegrated by Galeem*
Snake: Otacon? Otacon?! OTTAAACOOOONNN!- Much like the Ice Climbers, R.O.B. accepts his disintegration, closing his eyes as he does so.
- Even though Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings are strong fighters, remember that they're children. As they huddle together, Larry sobs "I don't want to die..." as the other seven comfort him.
- King Dedede and Meta Knight's last moments before being one of Galeem's cronies is protecting Kirby from harm. After King Dedede pulls a Heroic Sacrifice to save Meta Knight, Meta Knight flies upto Kirby to give him these tearful words of wisdom before he gets defeated:
Meta Knight: Kirby! No matter what happens to Dedede and I, just. Keep. GOING! - Red's reasoning for not returning to the fourth Super Smash Bros. tournament? He was actually traumatized after the whole Subspace Emmissary incident during the Brawl tournament—specifically when Galleom attempted a Taking You with Me with him and Lucas.
- When Galleom is deployed against the Smashers in Frantic Factory, Red begins to suffer from PTSD, remebering what happened during his last encounter with the mech. As the Smashers begin to fight Galleom, Red decides to curl up in a ball, scared to even face him. Thank goodness that Toon Link managed to give Red a Heroic Second Wind...
- During the fight against Ultra Necrozma, Samus gets in a heated argument with Mr. Game & Watch about having Ridley ally with them. It culminates in Samus stating that she'd leave her allies to die if Ridley's one of them. Needless to say, Samus immediately becomes regretful of what she said.Samus: *talking about Ultra Necrozma's Photon Geyser attack* So, did it get [Ridley]?
Mr. Game & Watch: You're actually worse than Ridley, I swear...
Samus: What. Did. You. Say?
Mr. Game & Watch You are WORSE than Ridley! You're acting like a spoiled brat right now! You may not like it, but he's one of our best assets in this blasted quest that none of us even wanted to take part in!
Samus: Are you deaf? Or are you just dumb? HE KILLED MY PARENTS! I've told you this for almost eight years now, and you as well as everyne else are willing to let a murderer slide?!
Mr. Game & Watch: Would you rather let us all die?! Ridley's at least smart enough to put aside you killing him twice because he knows what's at stake!
Samus: That dragon is nothing more than a mindless, snarling beast. Don't you ever call that piece of shit smart! And to answer your first question, if Ridley is among those killed, then YES!
Mr. Game & Watch: Then don't expect me to have your back. - Chapter 31 has Banjo reflecting on the past events of Diddy Kong Racing and asking Diddy about Conker…Only to learn that Conker had committed suicide.Diddy: He’s dead. Ate his gun. He told me to say ‘hi’ to ya from him.
