    Season 1

In General

  • The flashbacks where a young Reacher feels upset about how his Bully Hunter tendencies are threatening to ruin his father's career and that his father is taking it out on Joe (who is Taking the Heat after Reacher beat up the bullying son of a general).

1.1 Welcome to Margrave

  • Reacher realizing the first victim is his brother.

1.3 Spoonful

  • Joe's coworker and lover Molly-Beth crying when she hears about his death.

1.4 In a Tree

  • Molly-Beth's death is even sadder than in the book, as while bleeding out, she mistakes Reacher for his dead brother, her lover.

1.5 No Apologies

  • A corrupt Atlanta cop tries to kill Reacher and Neagley, but unlike the other corrupt LEOs in this show, he was clearly forced into doing this, having been shown Morrison's murder and had his family threatened. What's worse is how regretful he is, as he sobs after shooting his partner, tries to reassure Reacher and Neagley that he'll give them quick deaths. He then decides to stay and drown in his car as he says a Hail Mary, out of guilt and to protect his family, after Reacher and Neagley make him crash into a river.
  • Roscoe realizing that her mentor was murdered.

1.6 Papier

  • Finlay reveals that contrary to what Reacher had earlier assumed, his wife Sharon did not leave him. She died and the reason Finlay left Boston and moved to Margrave is because he couldn't stand to remain in a city where everything reminded him of her. Finlay even points out that Reacher is not the first person to assume Sharon left him and he doesn't correct anyone because he can't deal with their pity.
  • Roscoe talking about how her parents died in a car accident that she barely survived.
  • The flashback showing Hubble getting tricked into helping with a criminal act by a man he liked, trusted, and getting plenty of time to be scared and confused about it. Then there's his wife crying when she thinks he's dead after recalling the story.

1.7 Reacher Said Nothing

  • The murder of the Happily Married couple of honest cop Stevenson, his pregnant wife Emma, and their child is depressing on just about every possible level. Stevenson and Emma both have loving parents and grandparents. Emma is subjected to Fingore torture while her husband is Forced to Watch by people seeking information they don't have because both the heroes and the villains wrongfully think that Stevenson is allied with the other faction when really, he's Locked Out of the Loop. Reacher and Finlay lament how they could have saved "these two" if they'd trusted Stevenson. Then Reacher amends this to "Three" after finding an ultrasound of the baby. To make things even worse, in the book, Stevenson and his unseen wife live.
  • The second visit to Pete Joblings' parents, when they know that he's dead and that Reacher kept this from them earlier.

1.8 Pie

  • Reacher and Joe watching their mother die in the final flashback.

    Season 2

2.1 ATM

  • Reacher finds out that one of the Special Investigators died in a car accident the year before and the others did not bother tracking him down to inform him of it. Neagley assumed that Reacher would not show up for the funeral anyway. Reacher agrees with her conclusion. He has isolated himself so much from everyone that he has pretty much abandoned the people who cared about him.
  • Reacher and Negaly meeting Franz's wife. It's clear that Franz was a family man who loved his wife and son and the poor woman is clearly devastated losing him. However what hit hard is Reacher's reaction after Neagley tells Franz's son how Reacher and him met. With this all Reacher can say is “okay”.
    • This was the same word he muttered after he and Roscoe slept together which highlights how despite not being in contact with him for years Franz meant a lot to Reacher.

2.6 New York's Finest

  • Russo shows some deep Et Tu, Brute? anger and sadness at his boss and Honorary Uncle being a Dirty Cop while his boss (maybe truthfully, maybe not) insists he's only doing this to avoid An Offer You Can't Refuse fate, and a debate about whether the Little Wing missiles could be used in another terrorist attack like 9/11 clearly hits a raw nerve for both men as they talk about the people who died that day.
  • After Russo is mortally wounded, Neagley holds his hand despite her Hates Being Touched attitude. You really see the strain on her face as she realizes that he wants a last moment of comfort since he's relatively sure he's about to die, but she pushes through her trauma and holds him tenderly as he passes away. It's so devastating for both characters and it's why they all literally unload all of their guns into the killer who helped facilitate Russo's death and it's why Reacher yeets the Big Bad from the helicopter with the utmost prejudice.
