Tear Jerker / Mad Father

As a Moments subpage, all spoilers are unmarked as per policy. You Have Been Warned.

  • No matter which ending you get, poor Aya loses in some way. Either she is simply killed, or made into one of her father's nightmarish creations, or manages to escape...only for it to be hinted that she may have ended up just like her mad father. And the last one is the closest the player has to a 'good' ending!
    • By the end (the good one, anyway), Aya has lost both her parents and found out that one was completely insane and killed the other. Is it any wonder she may have decided to pick up where her father left off?
    • To make things worse, in the Blood Mode, adult Aya finds out that her mother never truly loved her, she just manipulated her so that she'll carry on the work of the Drevis family: to kill and experiment on people.
  • Ines. Poor Ines. All she wanted was to be a part of Aya's family. Made even worse when she's killed for trying to help Aya. The remake shows more about her past. She was a street urchin that Alfred took in. Ines believed she was going to be adopted and even met Aya as a baby, happy to get a little sister. Then Alfred reveals he lied to her and proceeds to experiment on her.
  • Maria getting attacked by the doctor in the Good End and one of the Bad Ends. After years of dedicating her life to the doctor, how is she repaid? She gets attacked and is left for dead. Depending on what you do, you can either save her or you can leave her to die from blood loss.
  • Aya's mother's real death. In her last moments, she called out her homicidal husband for wanting to turn their daughter into a doll. As a result, she planned to take her away and spare her horrific fate. Her husband retaliated by stabbing her in the chest and hiding her body in his lab.
    • Becomes even more of a tearjerker given the daughter she tried to save may have ended up becoming a monster just like her father. And even more when the Blood Mode reveals that she didn't do it out of love for Aya, she just wanted her to carry on the Drevis legacy.
  • Robin in the If Scenario. Poor boy feels lonely, but he doesn't want to join Aya and Maria because he fears he'd drag them down in some way. He does seem to care deeply for Aya, but says he'd try to stop her should she become like her father, so he would need to fight her in the game's true ending.
