    General

     Episode 1
  • Kazuki ends up returning the cat Rei found to the streets, as due to their lives as assassins, they can't keep a pet. He leaves behind a scarf to keep the cat warm. Later, Kazuki returns to check on the cat with some food, only to see it's been picked up.
  • While Miri was unaware the man was her father, the fact the man held her up as a human shield is a painful sight. Miri would've ended going from one sad homelife to something even worse.

     Episode 3
  • Rei's past gets shown where his father forced him to kill a dog sent to attack him. After he manages to kill the dog, his father tells Rei to never refer to him as "father" and that he is his boss. The nightmare causes Rei to wake up in a shock.
  • As they wait for Kazuki, Miri has Rei play with her on the playground. On the see-saw he sounds mildly impressed at it. Given his backstory and present day Manchild attitude, Rei never really had a childhood.
  • The situation of Misaki Unasaka, Miri's mother. A man took advantage of her, got her pregnant and then kicked her out into the streets with no support. She's then forced to give birth to a child she didn't even want, and is out of her depth at attempting to even be a parent. Every time Miri laughs, she hisses that she wanted to hit her daughter, feeling like she's being laughed at for her life.
    • Her current situation isn't any better as her boyfriend abuses her in front of who he thought was a client, just because she was taking "customers" without his say so. When Misaki slaps Kazuki on the face for rightfully punching her boyfriend for hurting her, you can't help but feel even more sorry for her.
  • Kazuki tries to convince Misaki to take Miri back because she should naturally want to look after and love her own child. Despite what he heard earlier, Misaki yells at him for trying to push his ideals on her and takes a large sip of her alcohol. Once her anger hits its peak, she tosses her glass in a fury. All Kazuki can do for her is leave her some money and quietly walk out.
    • Her Armor-Piercing Response to Kazuki also deals a huge blow to him since he blames himself for the death of his wife.
  • The fact that Misaki outright tells Kazuki she doesn't want anything to do with Miri anymore, even when Miri looks back on her mother fondly.

     Episode 4
  • Kazuki and Rei are attempting to get Miri into daycare, and one of the first ones they try, the lady is immediately judging them and Miri. Compared to when they settle on the daycare with Anna who accepts them openly, the other lady is downright cold and dismissive.
  • Kazuki dolls Miri up and buys her expensive clothes, but this ends up isolating her from the rest of her classmates who don't want to play with her because of the supposed difference in their social standings. The little girl who was so enthusiastic and excited to go to daycare with other kids starts loosing her smile each day and ultimately stops greeting Kazuki when he picks her up.

    Episode 10
  • Misaki has been diagnosed with throat cancer and cannot sing anymore. As she is nearing death, she wants to change her ways and reconnect with Miri. Kazuki and Rei realize that they have to give Miri up to Misaki so she can be with her mother.
  • Kazuki trying not to cry when hugging Miri as this might be the last time they're together before they send her to stay with her mom.
  • The scene at the mall with all the children and their mothers serves as a guilt trip for Rei and Kazuki.
  • Rei, who is normally emotionless, has a trembling lip around the time when Miri goes to a "sleepover" with Misaki. It goes to show that he may be cold on the outside, but he really did love Miri and will miss her.

     Episode 11
  • Misaki is murdered by Ryo on his boss's orders. After being diagnosed with terminal cancer and losing her career, Misaki realizes the error of her ways and genuinely tries to be a loving mother only for that to be cruelly ripped away from her.
  • Miri has now lost both of her biological parents.
  • Kyu is remorseful and blames Misaki's death on himself due to misjudging the head of the Suwa Clan.
  • Kazuki decides that the best way to protect Miri is to make it look like she died and then place her in an orphanage with a new identity.
