- One of the passphrases for the security at Molly's apartment is "All of my base are belong to me," a riff on the memetic opening lines of Zero Wing. Harry fails to recognize the line.
- Another is the famous children's rhyme, "The itsy-bitsy spider went up the waterspout."
- Harry thinks that he ought to create a Cloak of Levitation, a la Doctor Strange.
- He also does the famous quote from Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone: "Yer a wizard, Harry."
- His duel with Ebenezar has definite shades of Luke vs Kylo Ren in The Last Jedi.
- When Mab loans Harry out to Lara, Lara notes she finds his stubbornness appealing like a rare meal that is quite the delicacy, Mab tells Lara Harry is still of her house and should she taste the porridge, unlike Goldilocks, Lara will find it neither cold, nor hot, nor just right. The bears would kill her.
- The cornerhounds are creatures created by Frank Belknap Long called The Hounds of Tindalos; Harry refers to them by that name when banishing them. They're attributed to H. P. Lovecraft by Harry (Lovecraft did mention the Hounds in The Whisperer in Darkness, however).
- Early on, Harry expresses belief that eventuating events have the potential to become a Sharknado.
- Like the Buffybot, he says, "That'll put marzipan in your pie plate."
- Harry once again explains that the headquarters of the Brighter Future Society, where the peace talks are taking place, are located in a small but genuine castle Marcone had flown over from Scotland, brick by brick, and rebuilt.
- When meeting with River Shoulders, he mentions that he’s wearing glasses similar to the gorilla in the video game, which is most likely referring to Winston from Overwatch.
