Storage Wars: New York is the second spinoff of Storage Wars that follows six professional storage locker buyers: Mike Braiotta (The Hustler), Joe "Joe P" Pauletich (The Legend), the pair of Candy Olsen and Courtney Wagner (The Flame and The Firecracker), the pair of Chris Morelli and Tad Eaton (The Loudmouth and The Conscience), and making his debut in Season 2, Big Steve Valenti. As in their parent shows, the group buy locker rooms that have been repossessed in search of hidden treasure (or worthless garbage).
This series provides examples of:
- A Dog Bid For Me: Dottie B barks during bidding and John Luke takes it as a bid. Cue "WTF?" reactions from Chris and Tad
- Acid Reflux Nightmare: Candy has one in "The Walking Bid" where when John Luke opens the door to a locker, he turns into a zombie (and the locker has Mike, Tad, Chris and Joe P inside as zombies too). Courtney just tells her, "You've got to stop eating tuna fish before you go to bed."
- Arrogant Storage Auction Guy: While Joe P is too competent to be a full Smug Snake yet, he's very haughty of his achievements and is dismissive to pretty much everyone.
- Auction: Just like Storage Wars and Storage Wars: Texas.
- Butt-Monkey: Brandon

- Dirty Old Man: Joe P
- While appraising the binoculars he has, Joe focuses it on two women walking by.
- And also takes some photos of Candy and Courtney when walking by in high-cut skirts.
- He also flirts with Candy:Candy: What are you looking for today?Joe P: I don't know. Looking for you.(Candy laughs.)Candy: (in Confession Cam) He might be a player, but he's staring at me all day, he's gonna get played.
- Joe finds Nekomimi Ears
, and is completely lost going to an Anime Con and finding out how the ears work. The appraiser attempts to explain how the ears work, and to demonstrate how they react in one way, she has Joe look at her boobs. Cue cutaway where Joe mentions he was looking at them the whole time. They then both go under the table and further try out the ears, including the appraiser allowing Joe to look down her shirt. - Chris gets in on this too.Chris: (to Candy) You have a warm beaver.
- Dumb Muscle: Brandon, Mike's moving guy.
- Epic Fail: Subverted in "East River Gold" by Chris and Tad. There was a locker practically filled with garbage bags. Chris attempts to bid up people, but unfortunately, they win the locker for $550. Everyone is laughing at Chris, Tad is furious, and even John Luke states in disbelief that Chris paid that much. However, they find an Italian-made sidewalk steam cleaner in the locker, and despite it being in bad condition, was still worth $1,200, and earning them a $690 profit to win the episode.
- Establishing Character Moment: Joe P gets a good one in the first episode. He talks about his achievements in this field, has a Shaft-like singing for him while he does so and gets the biggest score of the day with some artwork to show he is The Heavy for the show.
- The first episode of Season 2 shows Big Steve is loud, obnoxious, and is instantly hated by the other buyers. It's also shown that he and Mike don't get along very well.
- Evil Laugh: Joe P has a sinister chuckle in "School of Lock" when Mike wonders if the old man got him in his Confession Cam spot.
- Evil Twin: The Stinger of "As The World Bids" has Candy insist to Courtney that she was talking to Joe P's Evil Twin, "Joe C."
- Expy: Taking cues from both Storage Wars and Storage Wars: Texas casts:
- John Luke - Dan/Walt (Though John is more no-nonsense than his counterparts)
- Joe P - Shades of Dave ("Legend" status)/Barry's "sense" (though he's much better than Barry at that department) and Moe
- Mike - Shades of Darrell's "Gambling" gimmick. Plus, has an assistant named Brandon (though not related in this case).
- Candy and Courtney - Jarrod and Brandi (As they too have a store and not much cash to throw around)
- Chris and Tad - Chris has Victor/Dave's Jerkass tendencies, Tad has Barry's coolness, and the guys refurbish furniture like Jenny.
- Season 2's "Big Steve" is someone who seems like Jersey's version of the late Mark Balelo.
- Flippingthe Bird: The girls do this to Chris and Tad
- Genki Girl: Candy.
- Gut Feeling: Joe makes his name on it.
- The Heavy: Joe P, and Big Steve (both literally and figuratively)
- Steve cements the role as the heavy in Ep 3 where he gets into a shoving match with Mike.
- Jerk with a Heart of Gold: When one of Big Steve's guys sells all but six or seven of the candy machines that he bought in Trenton (to make Big Steve a profit of $1100), Big Steve gives the guy the rest of them with instructions to "Take the rest home, fill them with candy and make money for your kids' educations, one quarter at a time." He DID warn the camera "You tell all of those guys Big Steve's coming for blood."
- "My people take care of me, I take care of my people."
- Large Ham: The Stinger of "As the World Bids" has Candy and Courtney act out as if they were on a Soap Opera. It leads to Ham-to-Ham Combat.
- Never Trust a Trailer: The trailers before Ep 6 show Chris and Tad arguing while the announcer says that they are on the outs. Turns out they aren't. It's just that both Tad and Chris bid at the same time and John Luke takes it as 2 separate bids.
- Oh, Crap!: Chris talks about "their kind of customer" and a voice says, "Hey, I'm here!" Chris quickly goes "Oh, sorry!" as a "sad trombone" plays.
- Mike after getting outsmarted by Candy and Courtney's bidding tactics.Mike: That's dirty pool.
- Mike after getting outsmarted by Candy and Courtney's bidding tactics.
- Pimped-Out Dress: While not outrageously pimped out, Candy and Courntey do dress up for the auctions, both as a tactic and to advertise their business.
- Potty Failure: Dotty B suffers one in The Stinger to "Breaking Bank," and drops the value of a high-priced chair to $50.
- Pyrrhic Victory:
- Joe P outbids Chris and Tad for a $4,000 locker, only to take a loss of $2,875. (The taxi meter was only worth $400, and the rest of the locker not coming close to covering the cost. "The only thing THIS taxi's driving me to...is tears.")
- Mike outbids Candy and Courtney on a $1,000 locker, but fails to flip it back to them for $1,500. He finds Lucite purses in it, but they're not enough to keep from posting a loss (though not as big as Joe P's $2,875).
- Courtney rage bids because of Mike's Jerkass behavior, but the locker they won only got them a lice comb and some World Fair pins that wasn't enough to put them in the black. Meanwhile Mike gets a locker for a very low price and makes a very large profit.
- Rage Quit: After once again getting screwed over in Brooklyn, Mike cuts the locks off of Candy and Courtney's bikes and takes off with them.
- Real Life Writes the Plot: When their store is a casualty of Hurricane Sandy, Chris and Tad amp up their bidding, as they need to make up their losses.
- Really Gets Around: Candy, if all those Double Entendre(s) are correct.
- Candy is supposedly a former Internet porn star, soo.......
- Record Needle Scratch: Plays when the appraiser of Candy/Courtney's dance shoes tells them they could be worth up to $2000 but the ones they have will only bring about $100 at best.
- The Rival: Mike vs Everyone, but Mike vs Joe P and Mike vs Big Steve are the ones that stand out.
- Schmuck Bait: Joe P vs Mike - Joe P stealth bids then says "He (Mike) can have it". Mike bids, and thinks he's got the winning bid but doesn't know that Joe P is still bidding and eventually Joe wins the locker.
- Sir Swearsalot: Both Chris and Mike.
- Sex Sells: Candy and Courtney
- Shirtless Scene: Implied as a goal in The Stinger for "As the World Bids." Courtney tells Candy to hit Mike over the head with the expresso machine and dump his body in the Hudson. "Before that," Candy insists, "we're gonna make him take his shirt off!"

- Young Gun: Candy and Courtney have the least amount of experience (and money) of the buyers.
- Zombie Apocalypse: Candy's weird Acid Reflux Nightmare in "The Walking Bid"; also has The Stinger some Hilarious Outtakes based on it.
