Based on the 2016 children's book Ollie's Odyssey by William Joyce. Ollie wakes up in an antique shop and is apart from his owner Billy. He befriends Zozo the clown and Rosy the teddy bear to help reunite with his best friend Billy.

Created and directed by Shannon Tindle and produced by Industrial Light & Magic, the miniseries would premiere on Netflix in September 2022.

Lost Ollie contains examples of:

  • Adoption Diss: In Episode 1, Billy's school bully, Mike, twists him arm while trying to make him admit Momma wasn't his "real" mom. Billy refused to because he loved her so much.
  • Ass Shove: As a child, Jimmy was said to have his toe stuck up a dog's rectum when he tried to kick it for stealing his GI Joe figure.
  • Back from the Dead: Rosy is sewn together by Zozo when he found her in pieces, and after Ollie was torn apart by Zozo, Billy found him and sewed him back together.
  • Barbaric Bully: Mike Apple.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Billy and Ollie are together again, but Ollie can no longer speak to him and Rosy is never found and put back together.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: The little girl from the first episode turns out to be Billy's daughter.
  • Crocodile Tears: Zozo seems to fake-cry to lower Ollie's guard before trying to kill him, but it's left up for interpretation whether or not his crying was genuine remorse or if this was merely a manipulation tactic.
  • Dying Moment of Awesome: In Episode 4, Zozo is about to tear Ollie's bell out, but Rosy comes to his rescue, dying from losing her stuffing, to stab Zozo, saving Ollie.
  • Evil All Along: Despite Zozo initially coming across as friendly and willing to help Ollie on his journey, he reveals his true colors in Episode 2 as he's willing to do whatever it takes to get Nina back, even though he becomes psychotic in doing so.
  • Good Parents: Momma is very loving towards Billy, she created a stuffed rabbit for him so he would have a special friend like she did, she always tells Billy he is her real son, and when she's on her death bed, she has Ollie promise to take care of Billy.
  • Groin Attack: Billy hits Mike in the crotch with a cue stick.
  • In the Back: Rosy stabs Zozo in the back with her toothpick sword when he is about to kill Ollie by ripping his bell out.
  • Inelegant Blubbering: Zozo ugly-cries in Episode 4 when Ollie tells him Nina was torn apart due to aging and her bell was inside of him the whole time. Zozo seems to be fake crying, however, as he uses this as an opportunity to make Ollie vulnerable before trying to kill him again.
  • Invisible to Adults: Not invisible, but adults cannot see the toys move or hear them talk. Billy loses his ability to Ollie when he's an adult.
  • Jerkass with a Heart of Gold: Rosy is at first shown to be very cold and harsh towards Ollie and Zozo, but eventually warms up to the former and even helps him try to escape Zozo after the latter snaps.
  • Kids Are Cruel: Mike Apple frequently bullies Billy for his childish behavior.
  • Living Toys: Toys are sentient and can talk to human children, they die when they are destroyed but can be brought back to life by being fixed.
  • Missing Mom: Momma becomes this after she dies from an illness, leaving her son Billy and her husband behind.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Billy abandons Ollie in the street to prove he's not as immature as his bully Mike says he is, but he quickly regrets this and sets up missing posters while looking for him.
  • Nice Mean And In Between: Ollie is the nice, loving and caring for everyone, even his enemies. At first Rosy seems to be mean, being sarcastic and aloof towards Ollie and Zozo seems in between, being a bit gruff but very helpful towards Ollie. However, Rosy shows a softer side later and wants to help Ollie, while Zozo is ruthless and is revealed to kill other innocent toys.
  • Parents as People: Jimmy wasn't as close to Billy as Momma was and he said he needed to grow up and play with Ollie less. But he cares for his son and tells him he is tougher than he ever was and since Billy and his daughter Suzy seem to visit Jimmy in his adulthood, they seem to have grown closer.
  • Riddle for the Ages: It's never revealed how Momma could speak to Ollie in her last dying moments
  • Sentimental Homemade Toy: Billy's mother made Ollie the stuffed rabbit for him when he was just a baby. Billy is shown to be very close to his mom, as such, and his friendship with Ollie remains for years to come. Ollie also become a Tragic Keepsake for Billy after his mother dies from an illness, at least until he abandons Ollie in an attempt to look mature.
  • Sequencing Deception: Throughout the series we follow Ollie on his adventures to return home while the B-plot is Billy is looking all over town to find him. At one point they seemingly just miss each other by minutes at Dreamland amusement park. The Wham Shot of the final episode drops the bombshell that Billy's search for Ollie happened a very long time ago, and the story we've been following with Ollie and the toys is taking place several years into the future as he finally makes it back home only to find it abandoned and rotting from age.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: After Zozo starts wailing after Ollie tells him what happened to Nina and why her bell was put inside of him (although Zozo was only crying Crocodile Tears as he then tries to go for the final blow when Ollie is vulnerable), Ollie expresses sympathy to Zozo knowing how similar his reaction to Nina's death is with Ollie witnessing Momma dying.
  • Toilet Humor: A dog was said to have defecated on Jimmy's GI Joe figure.
  • Tragic Abandoned Toy: Ollie wakes up in a thrift store with no recollection of how he got there, and he spends the series trying to get back to his owner, Billy, who he truly loves. He succeeds in the end, but Billy is now an adult and can no longer hear him. However, he can talk to Billy's daughter Suzy.
