Go To

Kikiriki is a Colombian puppet series by Señal Colombia that parodies news shows while being educational at the same time. It was created in 2008.

It is a "notizín", since the characters cannot find consensus about making the show a "noticiero" (news show) or a "magazín" (magazine). Its presenters are Yazmín Flores and Casimiro Buenavista, who are always in conflict about what the show should be.

Tropes

  • Ancient Grome: Parodied. When Yasmin calls Heracles "Hercules" during a report, he gets very annoyed.
  • Big Ol' Unibrow: Albertote has an unibrow to emphasize in his angry character.
  • Can't Take Criticism: Casimiro's mother is headstrong and doesn't admit any criticism to her. She will pinch anyone who dares correct or contradict her.
  • Catchphrase:
    • To quote Albertote, Cabeza says "In a wise, yet polemical decision".
    • To turn down orders that don't align with his contract, Pepino Pérez says "I win little, I work little" or "That's not in my contract".
  • Cheaters Never Prosper: In an episode, Yasmín and Casimiro are tasked to do a survey about whether the people would prefer Kikiriki to be a news show or a magazine. Casimiro decides to do photocopies of the positive result. Pepino discovers that his results are suspicious and reveals that his results were unfairly taken, so the Kikis decide not to regard Casimiro's results.
  • Deliberate Values Dissonance: In an episode about violence, Casimiro's mother agrees that violence begets violence, but is perfectly okay with using Corporal Punishment, as it is education.
  • Green Aesop:
  • Hollywood Pudgy: Criticized in-universe. The main characters discuss that the unrealistic standards shown in TV about being thin make people see each other as fat.
  • Ironic Name:
    • Casimiro's surname is "Buenavista", which means "good eyesight". His eyesight is not good at all.
    • Albertote Generoso has an odd surname when he is stingy.
  • Ma'am Shock: Yasmín detests being called a Mrs. rather than Ms.
  • Meaningful Name: Pepino Pérez's name alludes to him not caring about what he does and his laziness.
  • Merlin Sickness: Kiki Fuerza acquires the mind of a teenager in an episode centered on puberty and even gets a baritone voice. Kiki Cabeza mentions that Kikis age backwards.
  • Misplaced Retribution: In the episode about violence, everyone retaliates against a crew member after receiving violence from a different individual altogether.
  • Negative Continuity: Continuity is not a priority here, since episodes may end with the building exploding or with a character having an everlasting change, only to be overlooked next episode.
  • Nocturnal Emission: Casimiro tells Yasmín that he had a nocturnal emission and she freely discloses it, much to his annoyance.
  • Not So Above It All: Albertote is shown to be more wayward than he seems, as he was revealed to smoke in the bathroom or he has invited the team to a gay pride event.
  • Temporary Scrappy: In-Universe. Casimiro's mother is his emergency replacement when he can't attend work. She is hated by her coworkers for her inability to accept criticism and for creating a toxic work environment.
