Genesis

A rich young Yuan-Ti Pureblood whose only claim to prominence was his inheritance. At least, until he decided that he would scour tomes in search of power and happened to stumble across a hot ex-goddess he then tracked down and saved from her chains.

  • A God Am I: His motivation for seeking power when he initially began his search for it in tomes. It became more A Goddess I Have when the tales and descriptions of Thyria became his obsession.
  • Brains and Bondage: An intellectual noble who has a tendency towards the kinkier aspects of the bedroom.
  • Cultured Badass: His first thought for making his way to power? Lounging around and digging into tomes. Even among the readings that did not provide him with the information he desired, Genesis gained a litany of information that added to his already sophisticated education as a noble. He also proves to be well-spoken.
  • Cunning Linguist: His greatest skill, aside from slinging beams of eldritch energy at those who threaten him or Thyria. He can maneuver his way through many a problem by simply being able to read or speak a crazy amount of languages.
  • Deadpan Snarker: Due to his considerable ego, he often spends his time making callous, but still humorous, remarks about those around him and their ideas and plans that he finds asinine - aside from Thyria, of course.
  • The Dragon: Zig-Zagging Trope. What he thought Thyria might become for him, during his initial study of her. Then, he quickly settled that he would become her Dragon. Now, with her proving to be a more tenderhearted sorceress than he would have anticipated, he... still is somewhat of her Dragon, if only because he acts like one more than The Lancer.
  • Eating the Eye Candy: Frequently and unabashedly when Thyria is in the room.
  • Hero with an F in Good: As a man who desires to acquire god-like powers, Genesis does not exactly possess a... benevolent nature. However, Thyria tends towards fairly noble actions more often than not despite her great power, and Genesis stays in step with her. In fact, doing good seems natural and right now, though that doesn't stop him from recommending rather... harsh or self-serving solutions to problems.
  • Non-Idle Rich: Oh, he certainly loves all the trappings of having money, but considering that he spent years spending for nothing but tomes to study and discover means to power, left to free a near-goddess from her bondage ‘’mostly on his own’’, and then left his wealth behind to join her in her pursuit of… well in her pursuit of anything, really. He would much rather pursue ‘’her’’ than enjoy idle luxury.
  • Omniglot: For one to scour tomes to find every single piece of information about ascent-to-godhood and the like, one must not only learn multiple languages ahead of time, but also pick up on new ones as he reads. For this reason, Genesis can pull out old and modern languages from nowhere.
  • Tall, Dark, and Handsome: A quite built, tall half-elf with dark hair, dark eyes, and chiseled, more human features that go with his more sinister use of Thyria's brand of magic.
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Fond of these. Is quick to remind his and Thyria's foes that they are, in fact, fighting a goddess and the man she has made into a god, so what chance do their enemies have?
  • We Can Rule Together: Urges this at times with Thyria, but he realizes having her is good enough - any ruling through godlike power would be merely a nice bonus.
  • Wicked Cultured: Averted, at least in terms of the wicked part. The Genre Savvy, when they meet him, hear his story, and witness how he acts, might naturally assume that he is this. And he might be, if Thyria herself was wicked, but instead he bounces between this and being a borderline Sociopathic Hero.

Thyria

An Aasimar who became magically powerful enough to walk with deities... until those deities became irritated at her ambition, put her in restraints that drained her body’s ability to wield magic, and threw her in another realm until an upstart freed her.

  • Badass in Distress: For all of her magical might in the past, it was not enough for her to protect herself when clever enemies robbed her of her ability to cast - through speech, through movement, through motion, anything. She spent ages this way in Supernormal Bindings without much in the way of options or allies before Genesis searched deeply enough into the lore about her to find and release her.
  • Dude Magnet: Par for the course with being a timeless sorceress and near-divine being possessing of peerless, magic-enhanced beauty. It has its advantages, however.
  • Fallen Angel: More like Fallen God. Thyria had become essentially a self-appointed divine being who walked with the elder gods, Celestials, and the like for years before her power earned her too many enemies, and she was brought to heel, stripping her of many of the powers that provided her the ability to stand among these beings.
  • Good Is Not Soft: Despite having benevolent tendencies, Thyria was always ambitious, proud, and capable of wielding magic that could have razed continents. Now that she has fallen and been restrained for who-knows-how-long, she has lost some of the magical power, but she retains her Iron Lady tendencies... plus a healthy desire for revenge that has darkened her countenance.
  • Hot Witch: Not exactly a witch, but she is in the realm of ancient and could still shame most of the women in the realm in terms of her looks. It comes with the incredibly powerful sorceress territory.
  • Lady of Black Magic: While not exactly black magic, since her fall, Thyria's powers as a divine sorceress have taken on a more traditionally arcane, destructive nature. Combined with her refinement, fine robes, and poise, she easily proves a true lady of magic.
  • One-Man Army: One woman army, in her case. This was what she was known to be capable of once upon a time, though she only focused on self-preservation and avoiding interference from the overly ambitious. She has since regained some of this power.
  • Physical God: What she had become, to the point of her followers (though kept at a distance) gaining powers from her much as if she was a deity herself. And as it turned out, the only entities that could stop her were actual gods.
  • Power Tattoo: Has tattoos on her body that she proudly wears that mark her as so deeply connected to magic.
  • Really 700 Years Old: Her exact age isn't known, given that anyone who knew of her as a borderline deity is long since deceased or otherwise not around to chat, but considering the oldest tome that Genesis managed to acquire on her was centuries old, she is up there. Thanks to magic and her divine nature, however, she doesn't look a day over her mid-thirties at most.
  • Solitary Sorceress: Her rise to power was primarily a solo one, and one of the reasons that she was trapped and bound was that she had not established a relationship with any powerful allies. Rectifying this issue given her intimate relationship with Genesis.
  • Super-Empowering: With her body unable to control the vast magical power she possessed before her Supernormal Bindings drained her, she shares roughly half of her power with Genesis. It gives him what he originally wanted, to an extent, and keeps her fearsome due to his devoutness towards her.
  • Supernormal Bindings: See Badass in Distress. She was only able to be locked away when contained by bindings that negated her innumerable magic gifts, leaving her with just enough magic to keep herself alive and healthy. Little did she know that they sapped her magic, as well, though she has regained a measure of her previous capability.
  • Too Powerful to Live: How her enemies viewed a one-time mortal ascending to immortality through magical power... or at least, how they excused the act of binding her. Most she expects were jealous.
