Looter's Delight is a Roll To Dodge game on the Bay 12 Forum which is centered around a group of treasure hunters who have signed up for a program called Looter's Delight, in which they are sent to another world and obtain randomly generated weapons by murdering one another, often in spectacularly brutal ways, all for the sake of science, !!SCIENCE!!, and personal gain.
The game can be found here.
The game contains examples of the following:
- Aerith and Bob: There are people (and even a few demons) with normal names such as Charlie, Jim, and Annie. And then you have guys like Scyrothe, Zardak, and Sir Badassitude...
- Ambiguous Robots: Several of the players are these, most notably ALGEM and Scyrothe.
- Anyone Can Die: More like everyone WILL die.
- Berserk Button: Both Lucky and Evil Lucky have these whenever anyone tries to lay a hand on their girls.
- BFG: There several of these, ranging from a sentient artillery gun named Giordano to the infamous Mancannon, a six-foot long parasitic gun which mounts itself onto its owner's shoulder.
- BFS: Plenty of these too, but by far the biggest is a bus-sized greatsword that requires two people with superhuman strength to lift.
- Character Development: Most of the longer-lived characters begin to develop their own unique style and personality.
- Cloudcuckoolander: While a few characters are hinted at being these, Yukkuri takes the cake by far.
- Combat Tentacles: Moretti is a gigantic eldritch-abomination shuriken, with these instead of blades.
- Crazy-Prepared: Wwolin realized when Lucky was first created that people could get to a point where they could destroy the map, so he built a world around it the size of North Dakota. After a giant meteor destroyed the arena it's where everyone is now. Now he's working on a space map for when that is needed, as well as a few alternate dimensions should someone manage to collapse an entire plane of reality.
- Cyborg: ALGEM is one of these.
- Evil Counterpart: Lucky has one in the form of the aptly named Evil Lucky.
- Improvised Weapon: A shard of a BB gun attached to a throwing butter knife served Arthur well.
- Incredibly Lame Pun:
"Instead of a new spell appearing in Osborn's book, a long scaly body begins to grow from the spine. As it writhes like a fish on the ground, a pair of reptilian limbs sprout from it, as well as a set of fiery black wings. It roars as it rights itself, looking very much like a dragon or wyvern, but with a massive book for a head and a pen-shaped barb at the tip of its tail. It's a true book-wyrm if you've ever seen one."
- Make My Monster Grow: What happened to the aforementioned book-wyrm. It grew from merely large to several miles across
- Mini-Mecha: Yukkuri got one when she spawned.
- More Dakka: What do you do when a minigun isn't enough? Summon a gargantuan tower made of them.
- My God, What Have I Done?: Diana's reaction after killing ALGEM by accident.
- Oh, Crap!: Evil Lucky's reaction after he and Aurwyn manage to piss off a dragon that is several miles long.
- And, for that matter, just about everyone's reaction upon seeing said dragon.
- Our Demons Are Different: Putting aside players who spawn as demonic entities, there also seems to be a family of demons living in the countryside.
- Our Dragons Are Different: "...It roars as it rights itself, looking very much like a dragon or wyvern, but with a massive book for a head and a pen-shaped barb at the tip of its tail. It's a true book-wyrm if you've ever seen one."
- Our Ghosts Are Different: One player is spawning as a ghost. Presumably, it will not be incorporeal or able to fly, as that would make the game not function well.
- Procedural Generation: The items received as loot.
- Random Number God: Almost everything in this game is decided by dice rolls and random number generators.
- Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies: A meteor was dropped by one player, destroying the whole original arena. Wwolin promptly restarted the game with the few survivors in the surrounding countryside.
- Succubi and Incubi: Annie Stronghold notes that she a complete failure of a succubus, relying on battle instead of charm.
- Surprisingly Sudden Death: Early in the game, Billy Snow was almost dead from a neck wound when he muttered a spell that caused an army of locusts to kill his attacker and then heal Billy. He then got up and was promptly shot dead with an ordinary revolver.
- Team Killer: Osborn formed a league of evil with several other players, and then proceeded to murder them after they had severely wounded a boss.
- Took a Level in Badass: Badassery is a stat.
- With This Herring: Players can start with books of magic spells, gigantic swords,
