Tropes for the Sixty-First Class Trial
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: A modified flashback light brainwashes Komaru with Junko's memories and personality.
  • Dying as Yourself: Subverted. Junko-Komaru acts as though she has returned to her old self after being voted up for execution solely to guilt the students.
  • Hidden Weapons: Junko-Komaru smuggles a spear in a telescope to get it past the other students.

  • Troll: After being voted as Mahiru's killer, Junko-Komaru feigns having regained Komaru's memories in order to fill the students with guilt as a seemingly innocent girl is put to death by them.
  • Vagueness Is Coming: After revealing her identities Junko-Komaru teases that there may be more Flashback Lights that were given out to the students.
  • Would Hit a Girl: Surprisingly enough, Mondo decides to punch Junko-Komaru in the face after her reveal.

Class Trial 62

An upgraded Chem Lab has been installed in Hope's Peak Academy just in time for Monokuma to host a Science Fair with life-or-death stakes. Before the Science fair can take place though, lab partners Himiko and Tenko find themselves caught in a sudden explosion.

Tropes for the Sixty-Second Class Trial
  • Absence of Evidence: Miu's guilt is made clear when she is unable to present a Door Stopper that she mentioned having after it is brought up that it would've been useful for keeping Tenko and Himiko from escaping the Lab and would've gotten burnt.
  • Crippling Overspecialization: Miu's Ultimate Inventor talent proves to be this as she is unable to come up with a good High School Level Science Fair project.
  • Face Death with Dignity: Averted as Miu continues to resist confessing even while being unable to provide the Door Stopper. Sayaka snarks afterwards that she didn't give up with her dignity intact because Miu never does anything with dignity.
  • Failsafe Failure: The ventilation fans for the Chem Lab get broken by glass bottles.
  • No OSHA Compliance: The Chem Lab upgrades ultimately make Himiko and Tenko's murders possible.

Class Trial 65

Monokuma installs three Isolation Rooms within Hope's Peak Academy which must always be occupied by one participant of the Killing Game. Although the students try to adapt to this new rule, it isn't long before the Isolation Room alarms sound and the bodies of Komaru and Tenko are found within one.

Tropes for the Sixty-Fifth Class Trial
  • Accidental Murder: Mondo went into Komaru's Isolation Room after noticing that it was empty and accidentally bludgeoned her when she popped out of the vent and surprised him.
    • Kazuichi killed Tenko in a panic when she confronted him over his various misdeeds.
  • All for Nothing: Kaito and Komaru discover a vent in one of the Isolation Rooms and take elaborate steps to try and go through it and investigate. In the end, it turns out not to lead anywhere and Monokuma admits to having known it was there.
  • Bridal Carry: Although it isn't visible with the sprites, Gonta starts carrying Kokichi like this for much of the trial.
