In the 2018 film Instant Family, one of the would-be foster moms is a blonde white woman who wants an athletically gifted black teenager so she can help him reach his potential and get a football scholarship. Ellie bursts out laughing and says, "Like The Blind Side!" She insists she hasn't seen the movie, but when asked to draw her ideal child, she draws a boy who looks exactly like Michael Oher, complete with the number 74.
Abbott Elementary: Jacob is one of the few white teachers at Abbott, which has an entirely black student population, and he's bursting with White Guilt. At one point, his friend Janine calls him on it, comparing him to Hilary Swank in Freedom Writers, Michelle Pfeiffer in Dangerous Minds, and Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side. Jacob looks genuinely wounded, and even Janine gasps at what she just said and apologizes, admitting that last one was a step too far.
