  • Hark! A Vagrant: In "So Darlin, Darlin Stand" a gangster playing cards with his pals asks if they want to see a dead body, so they take a trek across a railroad bridge and shoot a fella in the woods on the other side.
  • In Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, one scene had a Race Lift version of the quartet going to look at a dead body. The body in question was Elvis, who was wearing his famous white jumpsuit and matching cape.
  • At the Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget, during Greg Giraldo's set, he mocked John Stamos "for losing his wife to the fat kid from Stand By Me."
  • Apparently this film canonically exists in the Pokémon universe, as you catch a scene from it (specifically, boys walking on railroad tracks) on your house's TV in Pokémon Red and Blue, its remake, and Pokémon Sun and Moon. Relating the coming of age journey the characters go on to the one the protagonist of the first game is about to go on is so meaningful to the franchise, it's even referenced in the 25th anniversary music video, as the very first shot before anything Pokémon related.
  • Stranger Things: The episode "The Monster" climaxes with the kids walking off into the woods along a set of railroad tracks before being ambushed by a pair of bullies, one of whom threatens them with a switchblade. All of this has parallels in Stand by Me, based on Stephen King's short story "The Body." Episode four is also called "The Body."
  • This was spoofed on the Family Guy Season 7 episode,"Three Kings." Peter is Gordie, Quagmire is Chris, Joe is Teddy and Cleveland is Vern. Stewie is Milo Pressmen, Brain is Chopper, Mayor Adam West is Ace and Meg plays the body, Ray Brower itself.
  • In the Rick and Morty Season 3 episode "Tales From the Citadel", contains a spoof of the film where four versions of Morty play the boys while a version of Rick is Pressmen.
  • Final Fantasy XV, features the song "Stand by Me" at the beginning and end of the game. Since it's a video game that can be described as being about the travels of a quartet of male friends, the reference to the movie is probably intentional.
