- A Diva's Christmas Carol has the Ghost of Christmas Future in the form of an episode of the show where Ebony Scrooge is just as openly hated in death as she was in life.
- Hardball with Chris Matthews: Shortly after the arrest of Idaho Senator Larry Craig for inappropriate behavior in a public restroom, Matthews did a spoof of Behind the Music of defunct music group "The Singing Senators", which consisted of Craig, John Ashcroft, Jim Jeffords and Trent Lott.
- Saturday Night Live has naturally parodied Behind the Music several times:
- A 1999 episode infused Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids with drug-fueled sordidness and had Albert suffer the effects of morbid obesity.
- A 2000 episode featured Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Keith Moon, Buddy Holly and Louis Armstrong forming a supergroup in Rock and Roll Heaven, produced by Jesus Christ.Narrator: But offstage, things were falling apart.

- Arthur: The episode "It's Only Rock And Roll" features a scene where Francine dreams about being in a parody called 'Behind the Curtain', where we see Francine as an adult woman talking about quitting U Stink and working in a popcorn stand.
- The Simpsons: "Behind the Laughter" had an Affectionate Parody of the series that displayed the family and their colleagues as Animated Actors (and featured Jim Forbes himself narrating the episode).
- Family Guy:
- In "The Thin White Line", Brian tells his therapist about how he's seen the Leif Garrett episode of Behind The Music so many times that he knows it by heart. A cutaway also features a Shot-for-Shot Remake of the scene of Leif and his friend reuniting.
- At the beginning of "Herpe the Love Sore", Peter and Lois watch an episode of Behind the Music featuring Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.
- Robot Chicken: A sketch from "Plastic Buffet" goes behind the scenes of the Electric Mayhem band from The Muppet Show, revealing that they got fired after Kermit was unable to pay the rent for the Muppet Theater, Janice having gotten Hepatits C from Tommy Lee, Animal having been put down for attacking Ed McMahon, and Zoot having been arrested in Tokyo for smuggling 37 pounds of hash.
- The Venture Brothers: The special episode "From the Ladle to the Grave: the Shallow Gravy Story" is done in the style of Behind the Music featuring the eponymous band, including interviews with the band members and family members.
