Films — Live-Action

  • In Andy Warhol's Bad, released in 1977, Mary says that the last film she saw in a theater was "the Watergate one."
  • Dazed and Confused - when Pickford sees Mike and Tony, he derisively refers to them as "Woodward and Bernstein", to which Mike replies, "Guess that makes you Deep Throat, huh?"
  • Fletch: Chief Karlin orders Fletch to stop his reporting about the drug trade on the beach, and says he doesn't want another "candy-ass Woodward and Bernstein". Of course, the real reason the chief doesn't want Fletch to investigate the drug trade on the beach is because the police, led by the chief, are the ones running the drug trade there.
  • In F/X: Murder by Illusion, Ellen tells Tyler to do a Woodward and Bernstein to expose those who set him up.
  • The Post: The end of the movie shows Frank Wills discovering the break-in at the Watergate.
  • She Hate Me includes a scene of Frank Wills, the Real Life guard (played by Chiwetel Ejiofor) who discovered the break-in at the Watergate, and shows how it did him no good in the end.

Live-Action TV

  • Birds of a Feather: In "The Chigwell Connection", Tracey talks about the film and gives mention to Dustin Hoffman and Robert Redford starring in it and taking down Richard Nixon.
  • Gilmore Girls: In the third season episode "I Solemnly Swear", Francie and Rory's meeting in the parking garage is done in homage to the film.
  • Veronica Mars: In the first season episode "Mars vs. Mars", Weevil tells Veronica he has some information for her, to which she responds, "Finally, a Deep Throat to call my own!"
  • The famous "follow the money" line is quoted in The Wire:
You follow the drugs, you get drug addicts and drug dealers. You start to follow the money and you don't know where the fuck it's gonna take you.
  • Chris Carter often quotes this movie as one of his bigger inspirations for The X-Files, wherein a prominent character used the Deep Throat codename. Perhaps not coincidentally, one of the names on Woodward and Bernstein's list of CREEP employees is "Scully".

Western Animation

  • An episode of Dennis the Menace is entitled "All the President's Menace".
  • The Fairly OddParents!: In "Channel Chasers", Tootie anonymously provides Timmy's parents with information about Vicky's sadistic treatment of their son as his babysitter, meeting them in a parking garage under the alias "Deep Toot."
  • The Simpsons episode "Sideshow Bob Roberts" features several references to the film, including the pull-out of Lisa looking over the voting records, the music, and the clandestine meeting with Smithers in a parking garage.
