Recap / Yu Gi Oh Capsule Monsters E 2 Divide And Conquer

Go To

Separated by wild monsters, Yugi, Joey, Tristan, and Tea each have their own problem to solve as they fight their way back. Yami Yugi's Celtic Guardian is no match for the treelike Trents in the forest, and he learns the hard way that any damage taken by a monster is shared by its owner. Yami realizes that this is a deadly Shadow Game, but its purpose isn't clear yet.

Meanwhile, Joey barely escapes the flock of Kurama with the help of his own Capsule Monster, Baby Dragon, Tea and Tristan are cornered by Root Water, a huge sea serpent, and Yami Yugi manages to touch another Capsule Rock in the middle of being strangled by the Trents. The fiery Hinotama Soul makes short work of the tree monsters.

Joey finds a huge treasure chest, which contains a Yamatano Dragon Scroll that ensnares him. Baby Dragon (painfully) frees him with its fire, and he discovers that the real treasure is a map! Meanwhile, Thunder Kid and Tristan are badly injured by Root Water's blasts. Tea remembers that Happy Lover has the ability to heal monsters that have been injured, and healing Thunder Kid helps Tristan as well. Tristan devises a strategy to blind the beast with the sun, then shock it while its guard is down. The plan works, but before they can celebrate, Root Water evolves into High Tide Gyojin. Just as Tea and Tristan are about to be overwhelmed, Solomon Muto saves the day with his Summoned Skull's lightning strike. Yugi, who heard the explosion, runs off to find the source.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Aerial Canyon Chase: Joey and Baby Dragon lead the flock of pursuing Kurama through a canyon; because there are so many of them and the canyon is so narrow, they all get stuck while Joey and Baby Dragon escape.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Solomon and his Summoned Skull save Tea and Tristan.
  • Hope Spot: Tristan and Thunder Kid beat Root Water! Yay! What...now it's High Tide Gyojin? Oh, Crap!
  • Kill It with Fire: Hinotama Soul, a fire monster, easily defeats the Trents.
  • Never Split the Party: Yugi and friends would have had a much easier time of things if the monsters hadn't separated them at the start.
  • Saved by the Platform Below: Joey has a few instances of jumping out of a Kurama nest, only to fall into another one. This ends when there isn't another nest waiting below; fortunately, there is a branch with a capsule that reveals Baby Dragon.
  • Support Party Member: Tea's Happy Lover has no attacks, but is able to heal its teammates.
  • Synchronization: When Celtic Guardian takes a hit, Yugi feels pain. Same with Tristan and Thunder Kid.
  • When Trees Attack: Yugi gets attacked by a forest of Trents.
