In order to accomplish his Revival Zero plan, Leo needs to fuse Yuzu and the three girls who share her face. Yuya is filled with anger after hearing that, and Reiji resolves to part way with his father. In order to stop his ambition, the two of them challenge Leo to a Duel. As Yusho watches on, he feels that something is not right about Yuya…
This episode contains the following tropes:
- Apocalypse Maiden: Yusho comes to the conclusion that Zarc intentionally placed Yuya in his care to make him into a duelist to speed up his resurrection.
- Call-Back:
- The three monsters Reiji summons are the same three he used against Yuya way back in their first duel in Episode 12.
- When Yuzu asked Shuzou about where her bracelet came from way back in early Season 1, he exclaims he doesn't remember and that she's just had it since birth. Turns out this seemingly throwaway scene was Foreshadowing that he plain doesn't remember how she was born at all.
- Cold-Blooded Torture: The Zarc within Yuya and Yuto pulls no punches in attempting to brutalize Leo, starting with Entermate Gatlinghoul.
- Cutting the Knot: Leo summons a powerful monster which can only be attacked by a Pendulum monster not between Levels 1-7. Yuya has three such monsters (Odd-Eyes Rebellion Dragon, Odd-Eyes Raging Dragon, Nirvana High Paladin), but all of them are rather difficult to get out. Instead, a Zarc-possessed Yuya summons a new monster with effects that could potentially OTK Leo through effect damage.
- Didn't See That Coming: As Leo lampshades, Reiji locked down his ability to Fusion, Synchro, and Xyz Summon, but he had no plan if Leo tries to Pendulum Summon.
- Didn't Think This Through: Leo's opinion of Reiji's Lancers project. Sure, it's a good plan to defeat Academia, but it's also Reiji's only plan. As Leo says, having no back-up plan is "incredibly immature" for a businessman.
- The Dreaded: Zarc shows us why he's this. As he slowly takes control over Yuya the cast is reasonably disturbed by his violent personality.
- Gatling Good: Yuya's Entermate Gatlinghoul.
- Jerkass Has a Point:
- Leo makes a good point that even if he didn't create Arc-V, Zarc would still try to revive as it has been shown the Four dimension dragons can teleport the Dragon Boys to each other and Yuto and Yuya have already fused.
- Zarc is right that he did what the people wanted him to do.
- Kick the Dog: This is what Yuya thinks of Leo's Revival Zero, and in Leo's point of view, this is what Zarc is trying to do.
- Not So Stoic: Leo setting the Pendulum Scales gets a Big "WHAT?!" out of Reiji.
- Oblivious Adoption: A very unique variation to say the least. It's implied that technically that the pieces of Zarc and Ray were adopted by their current parents.
- Yusho realizes he has no memories of Yuya's birth or Yoko's pregnancy, suggesting that Yuya was adopted in the sense that reality inserted him into their lives.
- A flashback with Shuzou, Yuzu's father, shows that he doesn't think she has a mother, considering the child a gift from God.
- Oh, Crap!: Leo has this expression as Yuya's Entermate Gatlinghoul prepares to finish him off.
- Ship Tease:
- Yuya and Yuzu have a huge amount. Yuya states he hates Leo for what's he done to Yuzu and nearly awakens when he realizes Yuzu is fusing into Ray. Yuzu spends a lot of the episode reasonably worried about Yuya as Zarc takes over.
- Yuto and Ruri have a strong amount. Ruri is able to sense and hear Yuto's words inside of Yuya when Ruri realizes that Yuto been following her belief, she's incredibly touched. When she is in danger, she begs Yuto to save her.
- Shoot the Dog: Leo plans on doing this to Yuya to prevent the revival of Zarc and he decides to defeat Reiji too when Reiji decides to stand against him.
- Slasher Smile: Yuya gives one of these as Zarc starts to take control.
- Split-Personality Takeover: Zarc is slowly taking over Yuya's body and may have finally taken over by the end of the episode.
- This Is Unforgivable!: Both Yuya and Yuto tell this to Leo for messing with Yuzu and Ruri's life.
- Trauma Button: For Leo, hearing Yuya summon Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon makes him remember Zarc releasing Odd-Eyes Dragon.
- Unwitting Pawn: Yusho realizes he was chosen by Zarc to raise Yuya so Zarc can regain his dueling skills.
- We Can Rule Together: Leo spends a lot of time to get Reiji on his side.
- Wham Episode: Yusho realizes that Yuya isn't his biological son and Zarc has control over where he sends his reincarnations. Leo is revealed to have Pendulum monsters and despite Yuya's best efforts, Zarc starts to take over his body.
- Wham Line: Leo's first move is to set his own Pendulum Monsters in the Pendulum Scale.
