Recap / Young Sheldon S 6 E 03 Passions Harvest And A Sheldocracy

Go To

"Passion's Harvest and a Sheldocracy" is an episode of Young Sheldon that first aired October 13, 2022.

Mary and Connie are eating breakfast together, when Mary finds Connie's copy of the romance novel Passion's Harvest. Mary says that it's terrible (without reading it), so Connie challenges her to read it. Mary does that, and is later inspired to write her own romance novel, with the main character based on herself.

Mary is turned on by her own writing, and she and George have sex. George later talks to Dale (Craig T. Nelson) at the store about it, and Dale wonders if she is going through menopause, but George says that she is too young for that.

Meanwhile, Sheldon is taking an ethics class taught by Dr. Sturgis (Wallace Shawn). For the first assignment, Sheldon has to decide on an ethical dilemma and take a side, but he cannot make a decision for either of those. He tries asking the rest of the family for help, but they are useless in this situation.

Meanwhile, Georgie buys groceries for Mandy (Emily Osment), who claims that she doesn't need them and that everything is under control, even though she is short on the power bill. Mandy later shows up at Georgie's garage, as it turns out that she was also short on rent, so her landlord evicted her and locked the apartment with all of her belongings inside it. Georgie lets Mandy stay with him, and climbs through her apartment window to get her stuff.

Later, in the garage, Mandy breaks down crying at the realization of how far her life has gone downhill over the past year. She says that Georgie is now the best part of her life, and that she really appreciates all that he does for her. She then moves into Connie's guest bedroom, due to the garage's limited space and bathroom situation.

In The Tag, Sheldon is presenting his assignment to the class, and has decided that the optimal way of life for everyone is a "Sheldocracy" where Sheldon has absolute power over everything. Dr. Sturgis tries stop Sheldon, but Sheldon keeps going.

Tropes

  • It's All About Me: Instead of doing his ethics assignment of discussing an ethical dilemma, Sheldon decides that it would be best that the smartest decide what is ethical, and that someone should be him.
  • Previously on…: We're reminded that Mary left the church and that Georgie got Mandy pregnant out of wedlock.
  • Right Through the Wall: Mandy is looking for the bathroom when she hears Mary and George having loud sex. She decides to just use the garage sink.
  • Self-Insert: Inspired by Connie's romance novel, Mary writes her own, with the main character, Marie, obviously based on herself.
  • Shout-Out: To Batman and Superman. Sheldon thinks about what each of them would do in the event of an ethical dilemma.
