Tropes

  • An Aesop: As Master Fung told Kimiko, "It's okay to make mistakes—the true mistake is never learning from them."
  • Crazy-Prepared: Omi never fights an earwig without wearing a pair of earplugs.
  • Demonic Possession: Sibini possesses Clay, causing him to pull pranks on the other monks.
  • Eldritch Abomination: Sibini, a tiny earwig-like spirit trapped within the Mosaic Scale, whose purpose is to spread mischief around the world.
  • Evil Mentor: Chase gives Omi a lesson in using an enemy's strength against them.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: Once she is startled by Raimundo, Kimiko accidentally drops the Mosaic Scale, which literally breaks in two, and rather than show the pieces, she hides them in Clay's room. This allows Sibini to escape and possess Clay.
  • Once an Episode: The "Ring of Geysers" Xiaolin Showdown pitting Kimiko against Sibini for the Monarch Wings, the winner being the first to grab the Wings and make it past all of the geysers, with Kimiko's Eye of Dashi versus Sibini's Tangle Web Comb. Despite Sibini making it to the Wings first, Kimiko wins after using an Eye of Dashi-Fire Element combo to seal Sibini within the Mosaic Scale as the earwig attempted to assume his full power within the Shen Gong Wu.
  • Pint Sized Power House: Raimundo lampshades this when he wonders how can something as little as Sibini be so dangerous. Omi thought Raimundo called him small and takes offense at this.
  • Pragmatic Villainy: Chase gives Omi a valuable lesson for getting Sibini out of Clay. When Omi later asks why he did it, Chase simply says it was in his best interest to do a favor that could be repaid another day.
  • Puppeteer Parasite: Sibini is able to crawl into people's ears and possess them.
  • Sealed Evil in a Can: Sibini was trapped in the Mosaic Scale for centuries. Now that the Scale is broken, he is free.
  • So Proud of You: Chase nods in approval after Omi overcomes Sibini.
  • Worthy Opponent: Omi and Chase admit the other's skills are impressive and that it's a shame to be on different sides.
