Go To

Mr. Sinister succeeds in kidnapping Jean Grey and is revealed as the new master of the Savage Land Mutates, who succeed in capturing Professor X and Magneto.

Tropes:

  • Applied Phlebotinum: Sinister uses a tissue sample from Sauron combined with a machine to neutralize mutant powers in the Savage Land. He gave the Mutates and himself special belts to protect themselves from the effects. A side-effect of the machine is that it also gave Xavier the ability to walk again.
  • Benevolent Boss: Mr. Sinister congratulates Ruckus for subduing Cyclops, Jean, and Wolverine.
  • Character Name Alias: Morph is claiming to be an actor named Murphy. The banner advertising his performance states the full name is Xavier Murphy.
  • Didn't See That Coming: Mr. Sinister admits he was surprised his machine gave Xavier back the use of his legs.
  • Enemy Mine: Ka-zar agrees to team with Magneto, whom he despises, just to save his wife and people.
  • Faux Affably Evil: "Scott, Jean, how good to see you again."
  • Mind Rape: Sauron does this to Xavier to get him to summon the X-Men to the Savage Land.
  • Mythology Gag: Morph's take on Mr. Hyde resembles the Marvel supervillain Calvin Zabo, who also goes by the name of Mr. Hyde.
  • Never Say "Die": Averted. Mr. Sinister repeats a line to a rebelling Morph: "I should've let you die!"
  • Number Two: Brainchild to Mr. Sinister
  • Previously on…: The segment exclusively focuses on Xavier and Magneto's struggles in the Savage Land.
  • The Reveal: Mr. Sinister is the master the Savage Land Mutates have been answering to. He also developed the machine that disables mutant powers in the Savage Land, with him and his minions protected by special belts.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After Magneto and Xavier are captured by the Savage Land Mutates, Ka-zar flees the Citadel to find another way to save his kidnapped tribe and wife.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Teeth-Clenched Teamwork: Ka-Zar towards Xavier and Magneto, due to the latter being responsible for the Savage Land Mutates.
  • Trap Is the Only Option: Between Morph's warning earlier and Xavier's unusual behavior when contacting them, the X-Men quickly figure out that Sinister is trying to lure them into a trap, but they don't care. Xavier is in danger, and they plan to go and save him regardless. (This ends up being deconstructed in the following episode, where they prove to be completely unprepared for what Sinister had planned for them)
  • To Be Continued: "Brace yourselves, people. We're going in."
  • Villain: Exit, Stage Left: With Wolverine fighting the Nasty Boys, Sinister cuts his losses and departs only with Jean.
  • Wolf Man: Lupo, a Savage Land Mutate resembling a werewolf.
