While the Wild Kratts are in India, Wild Kratts Kid Mala tells them about an Indian animal in danger: the sloth bear. Since the team does not know much about this unusual bear species, they decide to study it — but at the same time, they must rescue a sloth bear from Donita.

Tropes:

  • Bears Are Bad News: The sloth bear Donita captures is actually pretty friendly for one who is the mother of two cubs...that is, until Dabio goes to put the bear in suspended animation and nearly gets mauled by her before he falls on the remote. Donita also nearly gets mauled by her once Chris frees the bear and it goes after her.
  • Big Brother Instinct: Inverted. It's actually Chris, the little bro, who protects Martin, the big bro, when he gets attacked by Donita's remote-controlled razor.
Chris: Don't hurt my bro! [swipes the remote-controlled razor away, breaking it in the process] Buzz off!
  • Boomerang Comeback: Donita's flying razor misses the Kratt brothers, but still comes flying back to shave Chris's backside. And then it promptly comes back for a distracted Martin.
  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs: Subverted. The question of the episode is whether a sloth bear is a bear-like sloth or a sloth-like bear. It turns out to be the latter, as it's a bear that shares features with sloths.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: Untransformed, Martin stands little of a chance against Dabio. With sloth bear powers, however, he easily trounces The Brute.
  • Dissonant Serenity: Dabio nearly gets attacked by the sloth bear he and Donita captured, with only a chance fall onto the activation button of the pose beam being the thing that saves his life. Donita's response is to scold her assistant and tell him to stop playing with the animal.
  • The Door Slams You: While Chris stops soon enough after running at top speed towards Donita's plane, Martin does not and slams into his brother, causing him to fly face-first into the door.
  • Dynamic Entry: Chris asks Martin if he should knock on the door of Donita's plane. Martin asks him why he needs to bother when he's got sloth bear powers and encourages him to just rip the door clean off.
  • Empty Room Psych: Donita has a vault hidden in the underbelly of her plane. While one would expect her to use it in some fashion, it is instead really just an empty, dirty room.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Chris and Martin need to touch a sloth bear to activate their Creature Power Suits. Instead of touching the two cubs they have with them, they decide to go for the adult male sloth bear, and quickly change their minds when he sets his sights on them.
  • Figure It Out Yourself: When asked by Aviva and Koki whether a sloth bear is a sloth or a bear, Chris and Martin tell them that they aren't just going to tell them the answer because it's not fun that way, proposing an exploration into the creature and its habitat to find out what it is.
  • Gag Haircut: Chris and Martin each get one of these on their sloth bear Creature Power Suits when they're not fast enough to escape Donita's remote-controlled razor. Aviva, Mala and Koki have a good laugh over it at the end of the episode.
  • Impeded Communication: Mala starts to tell Koki about her creature emergency, but bouts of static keep cutting her off, leaving Koki with only part of the story. The most prominent thing she learns that the creature involved is a sloth bear, which kicks off the plot.
  • Improbable Hairstyle Sequence: After her first attempt to style the mother sloth bear's fur goes wrong, Donita tries again, styling the animal's fur into a few different hairstyles. She still can't achieve the style she wants by the end of it, though.
  • Instant Waking Skills: Despite the rude awakening, Chris and Martin snap right to it when asked what a sloth bear is.
  • Limited Wardrobe: The fact that Chris and Martin's wardrobes hardly ever change is lampshaded by Donita.
Donita: What do you two know about style? You wear the same shirts and shorts every day.
  • Mediation Backfire: Downplayed. Jimmy inadvertently does this when he wakes up and goes over to Aviva and Koki, who are drawing their own interpretations of the sloth bear. He's quick to get both drawings shoved into his face and asked what he thinks a sloth bear looks like when he tries to ask what the two girls are talking about. He can't decide and tries to hide from the girls, but they instead decide to lean on their other consultants to settle the issue: the still-sleeping Kratt brothers.
  • Messy Hair: Sloth bears have messy and unkempt fur, so much so that Donita can't tell that the animal she captured even is a bear until after she styles its fur.
  • Murphy's Bed: The langurs that are napping in the same tree Chris and Martin are sleeping in are startled by Aviva and Koki marching up to them, detecting them as predators. They're quick to escape, but in doing so, one lands on Chris and sends him catapulting into the air before landing on the ground, while another one sends Martin spinning in his hammock and down to the ground.
  • Neat Freak: Being a Fashion Designer, it checks out that Donita would prefer neatness and organization over dirtiness. As such, when she comes across a wandering sloth bear, she's quick to hit it with her pose beam and take it back to her hotel.
  • Not a Morning Person: Inverted. Koki is up early when the sun rises, far before anyone else gets up (even the Kratt brothers, who have been shown getting up earlier than Koki before), and with a cup of coffee in hand to boot. She is joined by a peregrine falcon whom she converses with.
  • Oh, Crap!: Seeing Dabio get beaten by Martin in an utter Curb-Stomp Battle causes Donita to have this reaction as she rushes towards him. Chris then warns her that he's about to release the mother sloth bear, which might not be good news for her considering how close she is to said bear's two cubs.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: A sloth-bear-powered Martin spins Dabio around and then slams him onto the ground...but Martin isn't done and drags Dabio away for Round Two, whereupon the latter recites the trope name verbatim.
  • Poor Communication Kills: When encountering the male sloth bear, Martin tries to communicate with Aviva, Koki and Mala through the use of (mostly) miming. What he's saying looks complicated, but he eventually slims it down to a "come here" gesture when none of the girls are able to understand him.
  • Super-Strength: Due to the sloth bear's incredible strength, Chris and Martin gain a strength boost with sloth bear powers, allowing Chris to kill Donita's flying razor with ease and Martin to actually be on even ground with the more muscly Dabio in a fight.
  • Stubborn Hair: Each time Donita tries to style the mother sloth bear's hair, she's able to shake it back to normal.
  • Talking in Your Sleep: Chris does this at the beginning of the episode with his catchphrase.
  • Tempting Fate: Chris and Martin easily dodge Donita's flying razor. Chris in particular remarks that the weapon was easy to dodge, and not a second later, he gets a nice clean Gag Haircut along his backside.
  • Too Important to Walk: Donita says that she needs to get out of the hotel for some exercise. Said "exercise" involves her sitting in a chariot while Dabio pulls it.
  • Waking Non Sequitur: Martin wakes up, cracks one eye open, and starts to name the langur sitting on him. He doesn't get past "I'll name you..." before he falls right back asleep.
