Tropes

  • The Bad Guy Wins: Carmeara both succeeds at getting Darrgon killed as punishment for his defection and succesfully kidnaps Yuna then uses her to open the gate to the Eternity Core in order to absorb its power for herself, starting the endgame of her plan.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Darrgon gets corrupted by Carmeara into a berserking brute to do her bidding, while he is able to briefly fight off the corruption he is ultimately unable to truly shake it off and has to be destroyed.
  • Devour the Dragon: Carmeara devours Darrgon's leftover darkness essence to empower herself.
  • Downer Ending: Darrgon, who had just befriended Kengo's group and was on his way to becoming a good guy, has to be forcefully killed by Akito to put him out of the misery of his corruption which is followed by Carmeara successfully kidnaping Yuna and forcing her to open the location of the Eternity Core for her, before taking a part of its power to transform into her One-Winged Angel form, Megalothor.
  • Et Tu, Brute?:
    • Darrgon is horrified to find out that Carmeara had killed and absorbed Hudram, that act is the one that pushes him to fully abandon the Dark Giants.
    • Later, when Carmeara intensifies and regains control of him, Darrgon is visibly shocked by it even questioning Carmeara about her actions.
"You would defile even my last wish, Carmeara?"
  • Heel–Face Door-Slam: Darrgon's attempted redemption and change of sides is stopped by Carmeara corrupting him into a mindless berserker.
  • Heel Realization: After realizing that Carmeara is too insane and being betrayed by Hudram, Darrgon calls it quits and due to his growing respect for humans opts to turn to their side.
  • Heroic Willpower: Darrgon is able to fight off Carmeara's corruption by virtue of caring too much about Yuna to truly harm her even in his brainwashed state. Even when Carmeara intensifies her control later on, he is able to fight it off multiple times and long enough to request being killed.
  • I Cannot Self-Terminate: As he tries to fight off the darkness corruption of Carmeara as much as he can, Darrgon requests Akito and Kengo/Trigger to destroy him so he can't hurt Yuna. Akito promptly does so.
  • Kick the Dog: Everything Carmeara does in this episode to Darrgon counts as this, as she forcefully brainwashes him to become a mindless berserker, intensifies her control after he snaps out of it due to his love for Yuna, denying him his wish of having one last fair duel with Trigger, and then absorbs his remnant energy for herself. To add insult to injury, she comments that he tastes disgusting because he was tainted by his love for humans.
  • Killed Off for Real: Darrgon is destroyed by the Nursedessei's attack of ramming itself into him, which is empowered by the Ribut Key.
  • Last Words: "My Friend", Darrgon's last words towards Akito as he is destroyed by the Nursedessei with the Ribut Key.
  • Mercy Kill: Akito hesitantly destroys Darrgon with the Nursedessei at the latter's request so he can free him of the corruption Carmeara put on him.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • The title of the episode is the catchphrase of Darramb, Darrgon's counterpart in Ultraman Tiga: The Final Odyssey. They also are his last words before being obliterated.
    • After Darrgon is destroyed, Carmeara absorbs his leftover dark energy; just like Tiga did to Darramb after defeating him in Final Odyssey.
    • Carmeara's One-Winged Angel form is called Megalothor, similar to Camearra's One-Winged Angel transformation in Final Odyssey named Demonthor.
  • Ramming Always Works: With the Ribut Key, Akito uses the Nursedessei itself to ram into Darrgon, destroying him.
  • Red Eyes, Take Warning: Darrgon's brainwashing is indicated by him having dark red eyes in place of his normal ones, they're also notable enough that Yuna figures out something is amiss about him due to their change.
  • Wham Episode:
    • Darrgon tries to redeem himself and even befriends Kengo, Yuna and Akito but before he can fully complete his turn to good he's brainwashed and forced to fight his new friends by Carmeara; when he ultimately can't free himself of Carmeara's darkness he requests to be killed before he can harm Yuna and Akito reluctantly does so.
    • Carmeara successfully captures Yuna, uses her power to open the gates of the Eternity Core and takes a part of the Eternity Core's power, transforming into a new form known as Megalothor, who is fated to cover the world in darkness.
