Tropes:

  • …And That Little Girl Was Me: Ratchet tells Raf how a field medic who found Bumblebee after his torture by Megatron wasn't able to save Bumblebee's voice box. Of course, he was talking about his OWN inability to fix Bumblebee since he was that medic.
Ratchet: Yes, well... the medic could have done better.
  • Break the Cutie: Bumblebee during his Consolation Backfire.
  • Brought Down to Normal: By Cybertronian standards at least. Bumblebee had his T-cog stolen, making him unable to transform to his vehicle mode as well as being unable to transform out his weapons, severely limiting his combat abilities and maneuverability.
  • Consolation Backfire: The kids try to make Bumblebee feel better by playing a racing video game.
    • And when that doesn't work, they decide to watch TV...
Commercial Announcer: The new Urbana 500. It won't just rock your world...it will transform it.
    • And when Raf tries telling 'Bee that he's "just as amazing without wheels," Jack and Arcee roll in from a drive.
Jack: Personal best, Arcee! You hit 120, easy!
      Bumblebee: *Death Glare*
      Jack & Arcee: Oh / Uh-oh.
  • Even Evil Has Standards: The Autobots quickly rule out Megatron's involvement in Bumblebee's missing T-cog, saying that while he may have been interested in raising a zombie army, "he's no ghoul."
  • Flashback: Ratchet tells Raf about how Bumblebee lost his voicebox while being interrogated by Megatron.
  • Innocently Insensitive: Miko suggest that Ratchet can simply build a new T-Cog if they can't get Bee's original back. She fails to realize, according to Ratchet, that it's not simply a component created for machines, but a vital part of a Cybertronian's anatomy.
    • Similarly Jack and Arcee revelling in their joyride as they race into the Autobot's base, failing to notice that they were rubbing salt in Bumblebee's wounds until afterwards.
  • Kick the Dog:
  • MacGuffin Delivery Service: Megatron congratulates Optimus - or rather, Orion - for his help in finding the coordinates to the Spark Extractor. A variation in that Optimus had amnesia at the time; apparently, Optimus can't remember the time he spent as Orion, either.
  • Not Me This Time: Bumblebee's T-Cog theft was at first pinned on Megatron, before Team Prime realizes only Silas has any intention of taking apart an Autobot for parts.
  • Oh, No... Not Again!: Bumblebee loses a vital body part, again. His voice box was destroyed long ago.
  • Organ Theft: MECH pulls this on poor Bumblebee.
  • The Reveal:
    • Ratchet explains to Raf the circumstances under which Bumblebee lost his voice box.
    • A minor one, but thanks to the below case of Your Television Hates You we find out what Bumblebee's alternate mode is called; the Urbana 500
  • Villain Team-Up: Starscream offers an alliance to Silas, telling them how the T-Cog needs energon and so they can find and refine it, and he has energon to continue working.
  • Your Television Hates You: Poor Bumblebee suffers watching through a TV commercial for the Urbana 500, which is his own alternate mode, with the tagline that it "Won't just rock your world, it'll transform it." while unable to transform.

TFP: Urbana 500

Being unable to transform due to a stolen T-cog, 'Bee is feeling pretty down in the dumps. Maybe some TV would help?

Or maybe not...

How well does it match the trope?
