With the team in upheaval, the Titans do everything in their power to save Jason's life. But when Deathstroke demands they turn over Rose, the dilemma threatens to tear the team apart.

Tropes featured in the episode:

  • Abandoned Warehouse: Deathstroke and Dr. Light use one of these as a base of operations.
  • Badass in Distress: Robin is kidnapped and held captive by Deathstroke and Dr. Light.
  • Battle Couple: Kory and Dick team up together to fight Deathstroke.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Kory is this to Dick and Jason, as she comes in just at the right time to save Jason from being dropped from the scaffolding the first time Deathstroke tires to detonate the explosives and she is able to save Dick from giving himself over to Deathstroke.
  • Big "NO!": Dick yells this as Deathstroke blows the explosives on the scaffolding that Jason was tied to.
  • Blame Game: Hank blames Dick's idea of starting up the Titans again for Jason getting kidnapped, Dawn disagrees and says they are all to blame. Donna says if they hadn't shut Jason out, he wouldn't have felt the need to go out and prove himself to them.
  • Boom, Headshot!: How Deathstroke kills Dr. Light.
  • Bridal Carry: Hank carries Rose like this into the infirmary.
  • Bullet Catch: Kory uses her hands to stop Deathstroke's bullets from injuring her.
  • Call-Back: Dick can only watch as Jason slips from his grip and falls towards his death, just like his parents.
  • Character Death: Dr. Light is killed by Deathstroke.
  • Character Title: The episode is named after Slade "Deathstroke" Wilson.
  • Choke Holds: Hank puts Rose into one to prevent her from escaping Titans Tower. Rose manages to escape the hold when Dawn comes in and distracts Hank.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Jason falling off a building.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Jason suffers this at the hands of Dr. Light and Deathstroke.
  • Continuity Nod: The Tracking Chip Batman puts into his Robins is used by the Titans to try and find Jason's location, but they only find the body of Dr. Light instead.
  • Distressed Dude: Jason is this throughout the episode.
  • The Dragon: Dr. Light is this to Deathstroke.
  • Earpiece Conversation:
    • The Original Titans have this as they search the sewers for any clues as to where Deathstroke took Jason.
    • They have this again when they plan to meet Deathstroke.
  • Evil Duo: Deathstroke and Dr. Light are working with each other.
  • Evil Plan: Deathstroke broke Dr. Light out of prison so Dr. Light could get all the Original Titans back together so Deathstroke could kill them all in one place.
  • Forced to Watch: Deathstroke wants Dick to watch as he is helpless to save Jason from falling to his death.
  • Foreshadowing: Dawn says that they can't use Deathstroke's kid to get to him again, foreshadowing that they had something to do with his death.
    Dawn: We've gone down this path before, we all know how that ended. We're not using Deathstroke's kid to get to him again.
  • Guilt Complex: Gar has this in spades. He blames himself for Jason getting kidnapped and believes that if they had just told Dick that they had found Dr. Light things would have been alright.
  • Hanging by the Fingers: After Deathstroke drops him from the outside of a building, Jason is able to cling to the edge.
  • Healing Factor: Luckily Rose has this, after Rachel attempts to stop her from leaving that Titans Tower.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Dick plans to exchange himself for Jason, in place of Rose.
  • Hostage Situation: Deathstroke is using Jason as leverage in order to get Dick to hand over Rose.
  • Hypocrite: When Rachel gets confrontational and yells at Gar for "keeping secrets" from her and how he and Jason should have let her come because her powers are "more effective" than his, Gar points out that she is actively trying to hide the fact that her powers are getting out of control.
  • Internal Reveal: Kory reveals to Donna that she is royalty on her planet.
  • Just in Time:
    • Kory arrives at Titan Tower just in time to put a stop to Rachel and Gar's argument.
    • Kory arrives in the nick of time to stop Deathstroke from blowing up the scaffolding that Jason has been tied to.
  • Lockdown: Dick puts Titan Tower on one when Rose tries to leave.
  • Locked Out of the Loop:
    • Gar feels that Original Titans don’t trust the New Titans and are keeping secrets from them.
    • Dick doesn’t tell the other Titans his plan to hand himself over the Deathstroke in exchange for Jason.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • Jason's tracker is removed as someone tries to find him before it's too late.
    • When using her powers against Rose, Rachel's skin turns grey.
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Rachel freaks out after she sees the damage that she does to Rose with her out of control powers.
  • Oh, Crap!: Jason has this expression as he come face to face with Deathstroke's sword when he almost escapes.
  • Pity the Kidnapper: Discussed by Gar and Rachel that Dr. Light would let Jason go after spending time with him.
    Gar: Jason's strong, he'll fight back.
    Rachel: Yeah, or he'll be so annoying that Dr. Light will just let him go 'cause he doesn't want to hear him talk.
  • Power Incontinence:
    • While she sleeps, Rachel's powers manifest as a black swirling cloud above her body. When Gar reaches out to try and wake her his arm gets cut up.
    • Rachel claims that even since her father gave her the forehead gem, her powers have been different.
    • When Rachel complains that she could have helped track down Dr. Light if Gar and Jason hadn't kept it a secret, Gar points out that she can barely control her powers at the moment, as he saw that she couldn't bring her power back in when they were training.
  • Prisoner Exchange: Deathstroke wants to trade Jason for Rose.
  • Red Herring: Deathstroke uses Robin's Tracking Chip to lead them to the body of Dr. Light, while he gets away with Robin to another location.
  • Removing the Earpiece: Dick does this as he plans to hand himself over to Deathstroke without the other Titans knowing.
  • Say My Name: Dick calls out to Jason as he hangs onto the side of the building.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Rose tries to escape Titan Tower when she overhears the Original Titans discussing plans to give her over to Deathstroke, in exchange for Jason.
  • She Is Not My Girlfriend: Gar insists to Rose that he and Rachel aren't a couple.
  • Take Me Instead: Dick tries this so Deathstroke won’t get his hands on Rose.
  • Take My Hand!: As Jason holds onto the side of the building, Dick reaches out and tells Jason this.
    Dick: Jason, grab my hand.
  • Tracking Chip: Jason has his removed by Deathstroke. Who then uses it to throw the Original Titans off his trail by placing it in the recently killed Dr. Light.
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!:
    Dawn: We're gonna get Jason back.
    Hank: It's more than that, Dawn. All those times... That couch... I know what it's like, sitting in the dark, alone, hurt, praying for somebody... hell, anybody to come and save you. Waiting... but nobody ever comes.
    Dawn: Hank.
    Hank: I joked about leaving him, but I'm not ready to give up on that little asshole. No matter how much he makes me wanna punch him in the face sometimes.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Deathstroke kills Dr. Light as he attempts to go off and attack the Titans after finding Jason has a Tracking Chip in him.
