Nolan and Bradford volunteer to act as a protective detail for a criminal who chose to testify against his fellow criminals. Chen goes on patrol with Bishop until she hears that her father is in the hospital with a broken arm. Meanwhile Grey tries to deal with the new captain and West has to deal with relationship troubles. Than an earthquake hits the city.

- Abusive Parents: Chen and Bishop arrest a woman who tried to perform a violent exorcism on her teenage son.
- Disproportionate Retribution: It is implied the woman's mother tried to exorcise her son for dating a Muslim girl.
- Impersonating an Officer: Bradford and Chen deal with a man faking being a police officer to collect bribes.
- Insecure Love Interest: Nolan is insecure about his relationship with Jessica, since she works for Homeland Security and previously dated a Navy Seal, while he is a 40 year old rookie.
- Kicked Upstairs: Grey arranges for his new captain to be promoted to headquarters by singing his praises in order to get out of having to deal with them.
- Obstructive Bureaucrat: The new captain is more concerned with rules, than practicality. For example he orders the agents to offer a business card to every civilian they talk to. If they refuse the card,the agent has to fill in a whole form to just say that they refused the card.
