Internal affairs investigates a corrupt detective. Nolan gets sued by someone who claims he assaulted him during a chase. He becomes uncomfortable about his chances due to the fact his lawyer is incredibly young and inexperienced. Meanwhile Bishop deals with a secret from her past and West has an argument with his father.

- Broken Pedestal: West used to put his father on a pedestal as the perfect cop. However the pedestal got broken when a criminal told him his father used to be dirty cop. He does not believe his father when he says that he wasn't a dirty cop.
- Cain and Abel: Bishop and her foster brother end up in a hostage situation together where the latter saves the former's life but she still has to rescue him.
- Dirty Cop: West has come to believe this about his father despite the dubious nature of his source.
- Dramatic Irony: Nolan is constantly harassed for being too old to be a cop while he refuses to trust his lawyer for being too young.
- Miscarriage of Justice: Sarah spend 10 years in prison for a murder she didn't commit, because of a dirty cop.
- Workaholic: Chen points out that Bradford doesn't do anything but work and that he needs a hobby. Bradford initially scoffs at the idea, but at the end of the episode he takes up paint-balling as a hobby.
- Ungrateful Bastard: Despite her brother saving her, Bishop arrests her brother in the end.
