Olga turns out to be perfectly healthy... which means that it was Semyon who has a problem with reproduction, so now Levin would work with him instead. He now must test his sperm, but Levin just can't keep it secret, so now everyone are aware of this.
Kupitman has a bet with his friend (with a whole box of expensive cognac on stake, no less!): Kupitman must find someone who agrees to be his wife (even if for a day), or he would lose. After Varya refuses him, he asks Lyuba for help. Unfortunately, Lyuba learns that she is merely his "plan B", and takes it as an insult. She agrees to help him, but decides that if Ivan Natanovich needs "a wife", he would receive "a wife"... angry, unforgiving wife.
Gleb must pay a visit to his grandmother, so he needs to avoid receiving a night shift today at all cost. Unfortunately, he doesn't know what to do with his patient, so he asks his mother for help... only for her to botch this too, since her diagnosis turns out to be wrong as well. And then Bykov learns about this.
This episode provides examples of:
- Awful Wedded Life: Invoked by Lyuba, when she proceeds with Kupitman's Fake Relationship plan; being angry at him for asking her only after being rejected by Varya, Lyuba agrees to impersonate Kupitman's wife, but acts as extremely aggressive, unforgiving and dominant wife who gives her "husband" no slack.
- Be Careful What You Wish For: After Varya refused to impersonate his wife (so he could win the bet with his friend), Kupitman asks Lyuba for help. When Lyuba learns (from Varya) that she is his "plan B", she gets angry, and decides to still go trough with the "impersonate Kupitman's wife" plan... but said "wife" wouldn't be as kind or loving as Kupitman expected.
- Cannot Keep a Secret: Levin was supposed to keep Lobanov's situation (that he needs to test his sperm) in secret from everyone. Instead, he tells Lyuba, the main gossiper in the hospital, with predictable results.
- Dude, Not Funny!: Levin at least tries to fix his mistake, and asks his friends (and Bykov) to stop making fun of Lobanov, since Semyon has a real problem (and is Levin's patient, for that matter). He is the only one to not laugh on the whole situation.
- Epic Fail: Kisegach berates Gleb for not being able to do an easy task and treat his patient. But when she tries to deal his work for him, she screws up just as badly as him (despite being the actual doctor, unlike her son, with years of experience). Bykov even uses the same words as Kisegach before when he scolds Gleb for "his" (as it turns out, completely wrong) report.
- Fake Relationship: Kupitman has a bet with his friend (with a whole box of expensive cognac on stake), and if Kupitman would not find someone to pretend to be his wife, he would lose. After failing with Varya, who angrily refused, he tries with Lyuba, who agrees... only to become angry after learning that she's the second person he asked, and decide to punish him: if he wants a wife, he would receive a wife; but he didn't specify that the wife should be nice and loving...
- Ironic Echo: When Gleb reports to Bykov the diagnosis made by Kisegach (passing it as his own), Bykov criticises it with the same words Kisegach herself used earlier to scold Gleb.
- Smoking Is Not Cool: Lobanov's constant smoking turns out to be directly related to him and Olga not being able to conceive a child.
