A Plot: Preoccupied with Barry and Lainey's plans to wed and Erica having dropped out of college, Beverly and Murray forget Adam's 16th birthday. After Erica learns that she and her band have run up a massive electric bill, she encourages Adam to throw a huge party a la Sixteen Candles to deflect negative attention from herself.
B Plot: Barry and Lainey attempt to manipulate Beverly into letting them getting married by promising grandchildren, but Beverly's smothering ways scare off Lainey.
- Berserk Button: Do not talk about Long Duk Dong in front of Dave Kim.
- Brick Joke: During the party, Ruben accidentally makes a hole on Adam's floor and covers it up with a rug. In The Tag, Adam tricks Barry into stepping on the hole.
- Forgotten Birthday: As in the movie, Bev and Murray forget about Adam's sixteenth birthday after they rush to stop Barry and Lainey from getting married.
- I Want Grandkids: Beverly tries to convince Lainey and Barry to not get married, but then Lainey starts talking about having children, which gets Bev crazy about becoming a "bubbie".
