A Plot: Barry is hell-bent on pulling off a legendary prank, with the ulterior motive of getting suspended so he doesn't have to go to senior prom alone.
B Plot: Murray insists that if Erica won't stay in college, she must get a real job and pay rent, but Erica is sure she can make money with her music. Beverly secretly slips Principal Ball a wad of money to hire Erica's band for the prom.
- Back for the Finale/The Bus Came Back: After being absent for the whole season, Bill Lewis returns to deal with his daughter dropping out of college.
- Big "YES!": Barry, after trying to gain infamy for a prank, nearly getting prom cancelled, and then turning himself in to the principal because Erica and Lainey's band were paid to play there, asks Lainey to marry him. She accepts, though Adam's narration hints that the early engagement will quickly lead to problems.Barry: THIS IS THE BEST YEAR EVER!
- Chirping Crickets: Heard when Barry asks Matt on how he's going to take Lainey to prom. Justified due to Johnny Atkins releasing crickets in the school as a senior prank.
- Insurance Fraud: The principal is lenient on Barry when he confesses to wrecking his car in a prank, because he managed to get a much cooler and stylish car from the insurance payout.
- Poke the Poodle: Barry's first attempt at a senior prank is to sew long pants on Mr. Mellor's shorts.
- Romantic False Lead: Jamie Weisman ultimately turns out to be this, as Barry confesses he only showed interest in her until Lainey came back, at which point he tries to win her back.
- Shout-Out: The episode's titular prank, taking apart a person's car and perfectly rebuilding it inside of a small room, is something Adam had seen in Real Genius.
- The Thing That Would Not Leave: Erica almost becomes one, after leaving college and returning home to form a band, and being perfectly fine when learning that her mother is paying for all their gigs. However, Beverly manages to put her foot down before it's too late.
- Wham Episode: Barry proposes to Lainey and she accepts, setting up their plot for next season.
