When Ultraviolet returns to Central City, Allegra is determined to find her cousin and change her heart, Meanwhile, Joe finds evidence that Kristen Kramer may not be the good cop she appears to be.

Tropes:

  • All for Nothing: Sue's actions in Season 6 were all to get her parents out from under the control of Black Hole's corruption. She finally reveals she did...only to realize they had become so addicted to the wealth and power that they were no longer the good people Sue remembered but as corrupt as the organization that had controlled them.
    Sue: I couldn't save them.
  • Beam-O-War: Between Allegra and Esperanza. Allegra eventually wins, after channeling her powers properly for the first time.
  • Beyond Redemption: Sue insists that Esperanza is too far gone to be reached, citing her own parents as evidence. But at the end of the episode, when Allegra succeeds in getting through to Esperanza for the first time, she changes her mind and decides to go talk to her parents again.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Twice by Sue this episode. First she saves Allegra from Esperanza, then from Dr. Olsen's men.
  • Blatant Lies: Barry returns at the end of the episode, sees Chester with his arm in a sling and Allegra with visible injuries on her face. He asks what happened, and they both respond, "Nothing!"
  • Boxing Lessons for Superman: Esperanza briefly tries to give Allegra a lessons on how to properly shoot energy blasts. It doesn't work. But at the end of the episode, Allegra overpowers her all by herself.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Esperanza makes her first appearance since the Season 6 finale, "Success is Assured".
    • Frost returns after sitting out the past few episodes.
  • Butt-Monkey: Poor Chester. First we get a flashback to when he happened upon Barry and Iris trying to make love. Then he goes around town not realizing he's still wearing his elf ears, causing major embarrassment when Allegra points it out. After that, he gets injured not once but twice by Esperanza, which ends up with his right wrist in a brace and his left arm in a sling. At least he ended up getting a new D&D partner by the end.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Chester flashes back to when he stumbled onto Barry & Iris having sex in the STARchives last episode.
    • Barry notes that all the villains this season have been defeated, leaving Central City quiet, giving him a perfect chance for a vacation with Iris.
  • A Day in the Limelight: With Barry and Iris going on a vacation and Frost going after Chillblaine offscreen, this episode focuses on Allegra mostly.
  • Deal with the Devil: Dr. Olsen convinces Esperanza to kill Allegra and her friends in return for him turning her back to normal.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Sue calls out Allegra two times in the episode for being so reckless in regards to Esperanza (going after her alone and just letting her out of her cell).
  • "Eureka!" Moment: When hearing that Allegra and Esperanza both have a yin-yang tattoo, Chester comes to the realization that their powers also work like yin-yang and that using Allegra as an input signal will allow them to track Esperanza.
  • Freudian Excuse: Esperanza talks about the horrific details of Dr. Olsen's experiments on her.
  • Get Out!: Kramer, when Joe first confronts her.
  • Happy Ending Override: The Mirrorverse arc ended with Sue clearing her name and freeing her parents from Carver's grip. This episode reveals that they were corrupted by him via money and willingly did his dirty work.
  • How We Got Here: The episode begins with Ultraviolet assaulting Allegra and then going 12 hours back.
  • It's All My Fault:
    • Allegra, when Esperanza injures Chester.
    • Joe blames himself for leaving his precinct alone with a potentially corrupt captain.
    • Kramer blames herself for losing her men in the ambush.
  • Karma Houdini: When Frost is ready to drag him back to jail, Chillblaine reveals he cut a deal and got his record expunged so is a free man.
  • Mad Doctor: Dr. Olsen, who made Esperanza into what she is.
  • My Greatest Failure: For Kramer, it's losing her unit due to being blind in regards to her brother, who turned traitor.
  • Noodle Incident: Sue alludes to two of them. First when talking to Esperanza, with whom she apparently had a run-in in Belize. Then when talking about how she got the photonic stun grenade. Procuring it required two trips to New Delhi, a helicopter crash, and a very deadly quinceanera.
  • Oblivious to Love: Allegra is clearly into Chester, but he never seems to notice.
  • Out of Focus: Barry, Iris, and Frost. Barry only appears at the beginning and end of the episode, Iris doesn't appear at all, and Frost only appears in the last scene.
  • The Power of Love: While Esperanza is empowered by hate, Allegra manages to overpower her after channeling all of her love for her family. This also gets Esperanza to finally reconsider after the fight.
  • Pun: At the end of the episode, Sue tells Esperanza and Chester that she has "seen the light".
  • Retcon: When Chillblaine first appeared, he was distinctly a normal person using technology to give himself ice powers. Now it seems as though he's a full-on meta, despite Frost herself saying he wasn't a meta a few episodes ago.
  • The Reveal: Kramer did not lead her men into the ambush deliberately - her brother (not by blood) Adam Creyke did. He just warned her to stay away and she didn't realize what was about to happen. She has blamed herself ever since and is now asking Joe to help her track Adam down.
  • Roaring Rampage of Revenge: Esperanza is not doing mercenary work anymore, she is after the doctor who made her into what she is.
  • Serious Business: Dungeons & Dragons for Chester.
  • The Stool Pigeon: Chillblaine turned state witness.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Allegra finally gets the hang of her powers and manages to defeat her cousin.
  • What Would X Do?: Allegra bases many of her actions on what she thinks Barry would do.
  • Where the Hell Is Springfield?: While Central City has already been established (at least in the current Earth-Prime) as being in Missouri, the map of the United States also shows that Opal City is in Illinois and that Metropolis is located right around where New York City is.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: Allegra towards Esperanza at the end, trying to appeal to her inner goodness.
  • You Have GOT to Be Kidding Me!: When Sue is told that Team Flash's "big guns" are all out of contact — meaning the team going up against Esperanza will consist of her, Allegra, Caitlin and Chester — she stares in open-mouthed disbelief for a second before snapping "Well, that's...reassuring".
