Go To

Original air date: 4/26/2002 (produced in 2001)

Episode number: 12b

On Friday the 13th, Timmy and his parents go to Adrenaland, a local amusement park. However, something's causing chaos and bad luck within the park (and eventually worldwide), and Timmy discovers that it's because of the Anti-Fairies, evil counterparts of regular fairies.

This episode contains examples of:

  • 13 Is Unlucky: It is the Anti-Fairy holiday.
  • An Aesop: Don't go blindly trusting clearly mischevious people.
  • Animate Inanimate Object: The Statue of Liberty gains sentience in order to cover herself after her Stripping Snag.
  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Timmy refuses to believe in bad luck. You know, the kid with two Reality Warper friends?
Cosmo: For someone who doesn't believe in bad luck, you sure are getting a lot of it.
  • Big "NO!": Jorgen gives one when Timmy wishes all the Anti-Fairies out of Anti-Fairy World.
  • Bill Clinton: The President in this episode is a caricature of him, though Clinton was out-of-office by the time the episode aired.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Timmy defeats the anti-fairies and rids the Earth of all bad luck. However, Adrenaland sinks into the ground when he tries to prove such, and is thus forced to go to Escalator Land.
Timmy: Next year, we're going camping.
  • Bystander Syndrome: Every anti-fairy escapes from prison, and Jorgen prepares to round them up. Then his shift ends, to which he responds "Your problem."
  • Coincidental Broadcast: Parodied.
Cosmo: Timmy! The whole world's falling apart! Look at this conveniently-placed big-screen television! (indicating a TV in the middle of nowhere)
  • Comically Missing the Point: Timmy's Dad finds a door to Fairy World and the only thing he notices was that the door doesn't lead to the bathroom.
Mr. Turner: (Holding his feet) You've betrayed me again!
  • Evil Counterpart: The Anti-Fairies to Fairies, natch. They have opposite personality traits compared to their good counterparts, and instead of granting wishes to specific godchildren, they roam to curse random humans with bad luck.
  • Evil Twin: The Anti-Fairies are this to the Fairies. Cosmo's is an Evil Genius, while Wanda's is a complete idiot.
  • Exact Words: After Mr. Turner declares he's not leaving until he fills every crack in the park, he approaches a bent-over electrician, who promptly runs off.
Mr. Turner: (chasing after him) Come back!
  • Forbidden Fruit: "Mr. President! Whatever you do, don't touch that Big Red Button next to the salt!" "You mean this one?"
  • Handy Feet: Cosmo and Anti-Wanda both emphasize their stupidity by eating with their feet.
  • If I Dont Return: Timmy tells Cosmo and Wanda, "If I don't make it out of here...tell my dad...he's weird."
  • I'm Going to Disney World!: An aide notes that the President almost started a nuclear war by pushing the Big Red Button and asks what he's going to do next.
President: I'm going to Escalator Land!
  • Implausible Deniability: After Timmy steps on a crack and his mother's back breaks, Mr. Turner demands to know who did it. Timmy, still standing on the large and visible crack (and not believing in bad luck), claims Mr. Turner did it. He buys it.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Timmy's parent's idea of a fun amusement park isn't a normal amusement park... it's Escalator Land, a park where every ride is a normal escalator.
Timmy: Dad, when do we get to the ride?
    Dad: This is the ride!
    Mom and Dad: Yippeeeeeee!!!
  • Invisible to Normals: The anti-fairies are this here, with Cosmo and Wanda having to poof up special goggles so Timmy could see them. A later episode changes this and render the power moot. Though Timmy probably didn't need them anymore since he now believes bad luck is real.
  • Mega Neko: A gargantuan black cat heralds the arrival of a wave of Anti-Fairies.
  • Monumental Damage: The anti-fairies destroy several monuments during their rampage.
  • Never My Fault: When Timmy points out to Jorgen that some of the Anti-Fairies have slipped out to Earth, Jorgen claims it happened when it wasn't his shift.
  • Nice Job Breaking It, Hero: This might be the worst example, as Timmy, demanding to talk to the anti-fairies, ends up wishing them free, nearly destroying the Earth as a result.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Anti-Wanda and Cosmo, both being the idiot spouse in their marriage, eat a sandwich with their feet.
  • Stripping Snag: One of the incidents involving the worldwide chaos caused by the anti-fairies is a boat towing a massive ladder over the Statue of Liberty, which tears off her cloak.
  • Superstition Episode: The main trope of the episode.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • When the anti-fairies are causing all the rides in Adrenaland to break down, Timmy notes that there's no way all the rides could break. The anti-fairies make it happen.
    • After Timmy tricks the Anti-Fairies back into Fairy World, Anti-Cosmo claims that they'll get back to Earth, asking who was going to stop them. At that moment, Jorgen's back on the clock.
Jorgen: So many anti-bones, so little time!
  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Timmy may have been the one to free the Anti-Fairies from Anti-Fairy World, but they wouldn't have gotten to Earth if his father hadn't opened the door to Fairy World.
