Richard discovers that going into a bank whilst wearing a motorcycle helmet can land you in a lot of trouble, as he ends up robbing it on accident. The Wattersons then need to figure out how to return the money without getting arrested.

Tropes:

  • Achievements in Ignorance: Richard managed to perform a Bank Robbery entirely by accident.
  • Bank Robbery: Richard accidentally pulls off a heist due to his motorcycle helmet. The inability to hear or see properly with it on leads him to enter the bank instead of the fast food place, and the bank employees assume he's a robber so poor communication cause them to hand over $2 million dollars in cash.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Darwin successfully delivers the bag of money back to the bank, saving Richard from being imprisoned, however the police immediately suspect the bag to be a bomb and quickly blow it up. The Wattersons look at with disappointment the flaming money falling down after the explosion.
    Gumball: Well, we tried.
  • Blind Mistake: The plot gets started because Richard can't see or hear very well while wearing his new helmet, so he mistakenly walks into a bank thinking it was a fast food restaurant and is mistaken for a bank robber.
  • Butt-Monkey: Poor Larry gets beaten up by the cops for every little thing he does.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Nicole tells Richard that he didn't go to Joyful Burger and get a free burger, but instead went to the bank and accidentally robbed them of 2 million dollars. Richard gets upset... because they have no lunch.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Each of the Watterson's plans to return the money.
    • Nicole's "reverse heist" is the closest to working correctly, but she didn't count on her own greed causing her to put into their own account instead.
    • Gumball plans to deposit the money by ATM, but since he has no idea how, he would just stuff the money into the slot, which would get him arrested.
    • Anais' plan to get a job in the bank and deposit each of the $2 million one dollar a day means that it would take 2 million days (roughly 5,479 years) to complete.
    • Richard plans to bury the money and get it back when he got out of prison. Unfortunately, since the others saw the Flash Forward, they simply got the money themselves.
    • Finally, while the others talk about their plans, Darwin simply puts the bag with the money back in the bank. Which is mistaken for a bomb and detonated.
  • Dirty Coward: Martin, the cupcake worker at the bank immediately follows through all of Richard's demands while trying to divert his attention to Larry by pretending he's resisting.
  • Dumbass Has a Point: Gumball of all people points out to Anais that her plan to get a job at the bank and return the $2 million by depositing it one dollar a day is way too long to work.
  • Failure Is the Only Option: Even Darwin's seemingly successful shot at simply returning the money is essentially foiled when Donut Cop suspects a bomb and has the bag blown up. At least Richard isn't arrested though, which is more than what can be said for how other episodes have ended.
  • Felony Misdemeanor: According to Elmore law, accidental bank robbery — not bank robbery in general, but specifically accidental bank robbery — is more heinous than a premeditated one and gets you a life sentence.
  • Got Me Doing It: When Anais lambasts Gumball's utterly pathetic and cringey police-slang, she ends up saying one of them 'Capoosh' (capeesh), prompting her to facepalm.
  • Halfway Plot Switch: The first half of the episode is Richard's accidental robbery while the second half is about how each Watterson would do the reverse-heist.
  • Heist Episode: Variation — the money's already been stolen, and the family has to figure out how to put it back. Nicole's plan to return the money is to do a reverse heist, breaking into the bank to deposit the money.
  • Imagine Spot: One for each main character's plan.
  • Karma Houdini: Martin, the cupcake worker at the bank tricks the officers into thinking that he's a hero who tried to save the bank while claiming that Larry might've helped Richard in robbing the bank.
  • Never Say "Die": Unusually averted: Nicole says "I'll kill him!" when she finds out Richard (accidentally) robbed a bank.
  • Penny Shaving: This is Anais' plan, with her getting a job at the bank and returning a dollar a day. Gumball of all people has to point out that it would take way too long to be practical.
  • Police Are Useless: The Elmore police spend the whole episode around the bank and playing with models instead of working to actually catch the one who robbed the bank. Then they carelessly blow up the money when Darwin returns it, thinking it is a bomb.
  • Satchel Switcheroo: The original plan to return the money. Unfortunately, the only suitcase available was a small travel bag.
  • Shout-Out: Richard's plan to bury the money and escape from prison references The Shawshank Redemption.
  • Skewed Priorities: When Richard finds out he didn't get a free burger at Joyful Burger, but instead accidentally robbed a bank and stole 2 million dollars and now the police are on his tail, he is horrified...
  • Split Screen: Spoofed on Nicole's Imagine Spot, a spoof of their use in Ocean's Eleven. At one point, Nicole steps through the splits.
  • Spy Catsuit: Nicole wore this in her Imagine Spot when breaking in the vault.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Larry calls out the police for the incompetence throughout the episode. They continuously blow him off.
