Recap / Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2003 S 6 E 10 Invasion Of The Bodyjacker

Go To

The Turtles and Master Splinter are accompanying Cody to a formal event at O'Neil Tech, hosted by Cody's own uncle, Darius Dun. But the Street Phantoms have plans to get access to O'Neil Tech thanks to a device called the 'Bodyjacker'.

This episode provides examples of

  • Accidental Hero: Jammerhead's actions end up revealing Darius's secret lab to the Turtles and thus confirm a lot of their suspicions.
  • Battle Strip: Raph hates having to wear a tuxedo for a formal event. When it's time to fight, he gladly rips it off (despite it being a rental).
  • Big "NO!": Jammerhead after Donatello smashes the Bodyjacker and fries his mind.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Jammerhead is stopped and the Street Phantoms get arrested, but the Turtles are miffed that Darius once again pulls off being a Villain with Good Publicity. Splinter says they'll just have to be vigilant and wait for the day he slips up.
  • Blatant Lies: The Turtles are sure Darius is lying about the weapons in O'Neil Tech being confiscated street weapons, but they can't prove it.
  • Body Surf: Jammerhead, thanks to the 'Bodyjacker.'
  • Compressed Hair: Jammerhead, whose feet-tall hair can be easily concealed under his hood.
  • Crazy-Prepared: The Peace of Mind program (confiscating and recycling street weapons) is a legitimate police endeavor, but Darius clearly got involved just in case he ever needed to explain why his secret lab is filled with weaponry.
  • Dude, Not Funny!: During his address to the attendees, Darius says O'Neil Tech's charter forbids the development of weaponry but quips that hasn't stopped people from asking. The audience is largely amused, though Raph finds it distasteful.
  • Intangibility: The Street Phantoms.
  • No Plans, No Prototype, No Backup: Jammerhead says the Bodyjacker is one of a kind, being made of technology that he's unable to duplicate.
  • Not Himself: Leo, Mikey, Darius and Cody all get possessed by Jammerhead through the 'Bodyjacker', and the others note that they're not behaving like themselves.
  • Out-of-Character Alert:
    • Cody says that Darius hates being called fatty, so when Raph calls the possessed Darius that and the latter gives no reaction to that, Cody grows more suspicious.
    • Leo's family realize he's been possessed by the 'Bodyjacker' when he says "let's just bag it and call it a day."
Mikey, Raph and Don: 'Bag it'? [Pointing to Leo] Not Leo!
  • Powered Armor: Darius Dun's battle suit.
  • Properly Paranoid: The Turtles and Splinter don't believe Darius at the end of the episode one bit.
  • Revenge: Jammerhead is delighted that this scheme is giving him a chance for revenge against the Turtles.
  • Shell Game: Jammerhead invokes it by name when he causes all four Turtles to come into contact with the possessed Splinter's body, making it possible he could be in any of them. And, since this is the Ninja Turtles, doubles as a Pun.
  • Shout-Out:
  • Spot the Imposter: Jammerhead (in Leo's body) tries to buy time by pulling this with all four Turtles and Splinter, but almost immediately blows it.
  • Villainous BSoD: Jammerhead himself experiences a literal one at the end of the episode, with him only being able to say, "System Crash" as he's loaded into the back of a police car.
  • Voices Are Not Mental: The possessed people speak with their own voices, though they do have some of Jammerhead's inflections and mannerisms.
  • We Wait: Splinter observes the family will have to bide their time until Darius slips and they can finally expose him for the crook he is.
  • Worthy Opponent: Splinter expresses grudging respect for Darius's craftiness, noting it'll be a while before a villain of his caliber has an opening.
