Recap / Teen Titans Go S 3 E 34 Rad Dudes With Bad Tudes

Go To

Robin meets cool dudes on rollerblades and tries to emulate them.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Antiquated Linguistics: The rest of the Titans think that only old people say the word "rad."
  • Blood Sport: The Demon's Tongue race is this.
  • Cool Shades: Robin wears these when he becomes a rad dude.
  • Defying the Censors: Somehow, this episode was able to get away with Randy saying "SHIT" as he was knocked off the racetrack.
  • The Dog Bites Back: Robin getting Chip and Randy injured during the race and rubbing his victory to their faces, considering how the two treated him earlier in the episode.
  • Doting Parent: Robin's "mother" sneaks him some rollerblades.
  • Fainting: Cyborg faints whenever Demon's Tongue is brought up.
  • Follow in My Footsteps: Robin's "dad" wants him to give up his dream of rollerblading and work in the coal mines.
  • Handshake Refusal: Robin does this twice by pulling away and saying "Psyche!" First on Randy as he agrees to the race, then the second time when he refuses to help Chip from spilling during the race.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Robin just wants to be seen as the raddest dude on rollerblades.
  • Jerkass: Chip and Randy. As the episode title goes, they're "Rad Dudes With Bad Tudes". Then Robin becomes this after becoming a rollerblader.
  • Jerk Justifications: When Robin asks why Chip and Randy are mean to him, they explain it's because they're rad dudes with bad tudes.
  • Lending a Backhand: Robin extends his hand to Chip who loses his wheels on one of his rollerblades, only to psyche him out and he falls into a pit.
  • Literal-Minded: Starfire at it again. When Robin says "talk to the hand," she screams at his hand saying she wants to speak to the face.
  • Military School: Robin's "dad" threatens to send him to the military academy for not only using "radical" language, but also for wanting to rollerblade.
  • NOT!: This is Chip and Randy's reply when Robin asks if he could join them and when he said he wants to ride on the demon's tongue.
  • Pass the Popcorn: Beast Boy walks in on Robin arguing with his "father" and grabs some popcorn like he's watching a TV show.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: Anytime someone fistbumps or high fives one another, it's accompanied by an explosion. Everyone who bails during the race also explodes.
  • Through the Eyes of Madness: Beast Boy's the only one who sees that Robin's family drama is all just him acting it out. The rest of the team is confused when Robin's hugging his parents, seeing him as hugging air.
  • Totally Radical: A lot of the dialogue that's spoken is like this in the episode, especially by Randy and Chip.
  • The Unapologetic: The back of Chip and Randy's shirts states "No Apologies" to certify their coolness.
  • Unsportsmanlike Gloating: Robin shoves it in Chip and Randy's faces that he won the big race.
