Sandra's son Tony begins working at Cloud 9, and it's up to Jonah to show him the ropes. Mateo tries to make Cheyenne a more professional floor supervisor, and Dina opens up her relationship with Brian.

Tropes:

  • Abuse Mistake: Jonah accidentally hits Tony with a box of beer while chewing him out for his incompetence. Sandra mistakes it for Jonah hitting Tony as punishment, and gets very upset.
  • Abusive Parents: Glenn mentions that, as a kid, parents always hit you, and if you cried, they'd hit you for that too.
  • Continuity Nod: It's mentioned that Jonah "hit Mateo for being undocumented" and tried to wrestle Dina (though he points out she challenged him).
  • Copycat Mockery: Cheyenne and Mateo do this to each other to mock the other's approach to work. First, Cheyenne wears Mateo's glasses and acts like an old, boring nerd while assigning shifts. Later, Mateo arrives to work on a scooter, decked in pink and talking about being unprofessional in a Valley Girl accent like Cheyenne's.
  • Gentle Touch vs. Firm Hand: Two subplots have this as a theme.
    • Glenn and Sandra coddle Tony throughout his first workday, even though he keeps making stupid mistakes. Jonah puts up with this for a while, but eventually chews out Tony more bluntly for his negligence, though he accidentally hits Tony with a box and is assumed to be punishing Tony physically as well.
    • Mateo tries to change Cheyenne's playful, encouraging approach to floor supervision into something more blunt and professional. However, Cheyenne's approach seems to be just as effective.
  • Kick the Morality Pet: Cheyenne is usually the only person Mateo treats with friendliness instead of pure snark, but he's much more judgmental and snappy to her in this episode, mocking her less "mature" approach to being a floor supervisor just because he misses having that job.
  • Ordered Apology: Near the end of the episode, Mateo asks that Cheyenne apologize to him for making him embarrass himself, even though he was insulting her for most of the episode.
  • Polyamory: Following Dina and Garrett's Almost Kiss, Dina and Brian decide to have an open relationship, with Garrett having occasional sex with Dina whenever Brian is away. Garrett's not exactly comfortable with the whole proposal, but decides at the end to go along with it.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Garrett wheels away from Dina and Brian's conversation once they start talking about which of Dina's body parts he's allowed to touch.
  • Skewed Priorities: Glenn, Sandra, and Mateo are more concerned with taking pictures of Tony's first day than helping a customer find a carrier for his cat, who's currently stuck in the car without one.
  • Sorry, I'm Gay: Tony thinks Nia's friendly with Jonah because she's into him, and Jonah develops a crush on her. Near the end of the episode, Jonah tries to ask Nia out, and she tells him she's a lesbian.
  • Wardrobe Malfunction: The leggings Mateo wears to mock Cheyenne expose his (pixellated) junk to his coworkers. Cheyenne later notes that SuperCloud brand leggings are like that, and implies her vagina was visible to one of Harmonica's teachers at a parent-teacher's conference.
Cheyenne: ...But she got an A on her macaroni project after that, and it suuuuucked.
