The Warden declares himself the winner of Superjail's science fair, and presents inmates with his "Terrorarium", shrinking a number down to let them try to survive among the giant insect threats within. But since Jared didn't supply the Warden with a trophy for his creation, the Warden does all he can to humiliate him for it. Jared finds himself unable to resist the temptation of revenge...

"Terrorarium" contains examples of:

  • Animate Inanimate Object: The Warden's laughing caterpillar train (complete with its own Leitmotif). It even returns to laugh at Jared when he winds up humiliated by the other staff members and inmates.
  • Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Bobo, an inmate who comes in contact with the Warden's growth serum.
  • Bee-Bee Gun: A swarm of angered bees turn into the shape of a gun during the bloodbath climax, and fire upon an inmate, causing him to swell up and explode.
  • Continuity Nod: One of the bored inmates (the bald black one) is chosen for the Terrorarium, along with the Middle-Eastern inmate from "Superbar". A recurring Asian inmate with a goatee is also one of the contestants.
  • Funny Background Event: Overlapping with Freeze-Frame Bonus. As Alice and Jared fight through the jail, they pass by one of the gay inmates arm-wrestling another inmate (only to get his arm ripped right off), Gary's cellmate sniffing Gary's (dirty) underwear and getting a thrill from it, as well as a bobcat randomly dragging a dead deer away into an air vent.
  • Gainax Ending: A big time early example that spawned a theory or two: Mainly, all those multiple Twins on some distant planet and the question of whether the Twins were aliens, or if all the other Twins were their species or clones. Although, it seems this one was solely meant as a throwaway gag, as with the other mind-screw endings.
  • Good Angel, Bad Angel: Parodied with the Twins; "Angel Twin" and "Devil Twin" both pressure Jared into drinking the growth serum.
  • Groin Attack: Gary's cellmate attempts to trick people into reaching into his "mystery box" at the fair. Alice quickly figures out what's inside and smashes the box, eliciting a shriek of pain from the guy.
  • Incredible Shrinking Man: The Twins display the power of shrinking to get inside the Terrorarium and switch out the growth serum with something else. For the inmates, the method of shrinking that the Warden uses on them is much more painful and disturbing; mainly grinding their bodies up into sausages that hatch miniature versions of said inmates.
  • Pokémon Speak: "BOBOOOOOO."
  • Stock Footage: The character models of the Twins in their first shot are lifted and animated from promotional character artwork for season 1. Alice is also a case of this in a following scene, with her bust having also been reused from stock art.
    • Three of the inmates in awe of the Terrorarium are basically the same character model copy-pasted and recolored, with two versions being white men and the other being a black man. The other inmates in the reaction are also copy and pasted from each other, with a number of them recycled from a reaction shot used in "Ladies' Night".
  • They Killed Kenny Again: Fatty dies via decapitation this time around. It still doesn't stop him from showing up later. Meanwhile in the Terrorarium competition, the Middle-Eastern inmate finds himself devoured by a bug.
  • Visual Pun: Alice and Jared's whole fight sequence is filled with them cracking puns at each other, with the visuals to go along with them note
