As a reward for getting her first Stella, Anya requests a dog, hoping to use it as a way to approach Damien. Meanwhile, a group of terrorists is trying to reignite the war between Westalis and Ostania by murdering the visiting Westalian Foreign Minister.

Tropes that appear in this episode:

  • Action Pet: Loid hoped that Anya would choose one of the selected security dogs featured in the WISE-run pet shop he took his family to. Anya would later choose the shaggy white dog as her pet for saving her from the criminals.
  • Animal Testing: Handler explains to Loid that the terrorists found a collection of dogs that were once experimented on by a government group for the purpose of giving them extraordinary powers to support their cause. When the experiments were ordered to be shut down, the dogs were sold in the black market rather than being euthanized.
  • Audible Sharpness: When the leader of the terrorists pulls out his knife to threaten Anya, it makes a swoosh sound.
  • Bathroom Search Excuse: When he learns that WISE is calling him to another mission, Loid tries to excuse himself from his family by saying he needs to use the bathroom.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Just before the terrorist prepares to kill a defenseless Anya, Yor shows up to knock him across the alley.
  • Calm Before the Storm: The first part of the episode centers on the Forgers going shopping for a dog for Anya, whom intends to use her pet to get close to Damian by way of Commonality Connection. When she sees the big fluffy dog walked by one of the terrorists, she follows him in the hopes that she can adopt the dog as her own, which is when she stumbles onto Keith's plot to restart the war by using explosives strapped to dogs to blow up the peace summit.
  • Ceiling Cling: After she's lost track of Anya, Yor clings herself to the building's ceiling to get a bird's eye view of the area in the hope of spotting her.
  • Cliffhanger: Yor makes her presence known to the kidnappers and declares that Anya is too young to be married.
  • Foreshadowing: When being walked by one of the criminals, the shaggy dog would break away to save a runaway boy to keep him from being crushed by a falling sign. This would hint to the dog not only having the ability to see the future, but also has a kind and noble heart.
  • Gonk: The dogs that Loid tries to show Anya aren't as..."adorable" as she'd like them to be.
  • He Knows Too Much: The terrorists are willing to kill Anya because she overheard a conversation they were having about their plans.
  • Innocent Swearing: Anya tries to help her dad leave for work by saying that "he takes a long time taking a shit on the shitter".
  • Mistaken for Pedophile: After hearing some news reports about children being abducted and forced into marriage, Yor instantly worries that her missing daughter was abducted by similar traffickers. She even calls Keith and his thug perverts upon their first beating.
  • Negated Moment of Awesome: Anya gets the big idea to report the terrorists to the police and assigns her new dog friend to travel to the station and eagerly hopes to become Starlight Anya for her efforts. To her dismay, the dog ends up running in circles, exhausts himself and they're both caught by the terrorists.
  • Seers: Due to some past experimentations, the shaggy dog Anya befriends is able to see future events.
  • The Smurfette Principle: The terrorist faction seems to be made entirely of men except for a single female member who can be seen in the hideout.
  • Toon Physics: The terrorist that Yor kicks ends up knocking across the alley like a pinball.
  • Weaponized Animal: Keith's plan is to strap bombs onto unwanted dogs and train them to attack the visiting minister. Doing so would result in the dogs charging after the head honcho to kill him via explosions.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Keith and his stooges are willing to kill Anya to ensure that she won't blab to the authorities about their plan.
