Ready for a new adventure?note

Written by: Ian Flynn
Year: One
Saga: Neo Metal Sonic's Revenge
Arc Duration: #1 - #4

Fallout! revolves around Sonic the Hedgehog and his recent adventures in the aftermath of the Eggman War. He discovers that after Dr. Eggman's disappearance his Badnik forces had become more organized, attacking several towns on command. Sonic decides to find the source of these attacks and stops several of them with the help of his friends such as Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Blaze, and a new ally named Tangle the Lemur.

  • Action Girl: Amy Rose, Blaze the Cat, and Tangle the Lemur—all of whom kick ass and look cool/cute doing it.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: In issue #3, Sonic finds Rough and Tumble guilty of theft, extortion, kidnapping and "being Grade-A jerks".
  • Back-to-Back Badasses: Sonic and Tangle at one point in Issue #4.
  • Bash Brothers: Sonic + Tails and/or Knuckles = awesomeness. Rough and Tumble, a villainous example of this trope, also feature.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Outside of Issue #3, Sonic gets his quills saved once per issue.
    • In #1, Tails saves him from being turned into hedgehog pasta by the Egg Hammers.
    • In #2, Sonic is saved from round 2 with the Death Crab by Amy.
    • In #4, he and Tangle are saved from Badniks by the fiery entrance of Blaze.
  • The Cameo: Jennifer Hernandez' fan characters—Jade and Crystal the Cats, Emerald the Iguana, Ruby Ringtail, and Sapphire Flutterby—appear as residents of Barricade Town in Issue #3, for which Jennifer was the line-artist.
  • Canon Foreigner:
    • Issue #3 is the first to bring in comic-only characters. The first is Rough and Tumble, two antagonistic skunks who took over Barricade Town to be their own little stronghold.
    • Issue #4 introduces us to Tangle, a rather excited female lemur with an elastic Prehensile Tail who's likewise a pretty tough fighter in her own right.
  • Casual Danger Dialogue: Sonic and Tangle exchange intros and light pleasantries while the Badniks besiege Spiral Hill Village in Issue #4.
  • Collateral Damage: Much of the world is in need of fixing residual damage just months after the war against Eggman. Not every place is worse for wear, but there are still signs of conflict that took place. Unfortunately, most are still busy with dealing with straggling Badniks to start cleaning up.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Issue #1 begins with a recap of Sonic's past confrontations with Eggman (since the franchise's jump to 3D). The montage shows him fighting the last Eggman bosses in Sonic Adventure, Sonic Heroes, Sonic Unleashed, and Sonic Forces.
    • Issue #3 has Knuckles acknowledge that before Tails ran off during the events of Forces, he was the one who gave the Resistance ciphers for the Wisps' language, where they asked the aliens to help stop Eggman. Many of these Wisps volunteered to help out, with many staying in Wisp Deployment Pods.
  • Debut Queue: Sonic and Tails, the two main heroes of the franchise, naturally debut first. The other characters are introduced as the arc progresses.
    • Amy, Orbot, Cubot, and eventual Ascended/Recurring Extra character Lanolin debut in Issue #2.
    • Knuckles, Rough, Tumble, and the Wisps first appear in Issue #3.
    • Issue #4 marks the debut of Blaze, Tangle, and finally, Dr. Eggman.
  • Decapitated Army: The Eggman Empire armies became this after its leader's disappearance after the war, resulting in randomly attacking nearby populaces. However, near the end of the arc, they become much more organized, turning them back to a credible threat.
  • Driving Question: Once the Decapitated Army starts getting itself back together, there are already suspicions that Eggman is ready to make his move again. Sonic starts wondering that it may be different this time, which brings up the question: If Eggman isn't behind the organized Badnik attacks, then who is? And where is he?
  • I Can Live With That: Amy begs Sonic multiple times to join the Resistance, but Sonic insists on being the Lone Wolf who prefers to go his own way. Amy finally accepts this, and is a reason why she cares about him so much.
  • Late to the Party: Blaze in Issue #4 reveals she came to help with the fight against Eggman after seeing the vision of Sonic's world in trouble... only to find out she came after everything was said and done. She does stay in Sonic's world on the chance that there's another looming threat on the horizon.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: Much of the world is in need of fixing collateral damage just months after the war against Eggman. Not every place is worse for wear, but there are still signs of conflict that took place. Unfortunately, most are still busy with dealing with straggling Badniks to start cleaning up.
  • Taking Over the Town: Rough & Tumble took over Barricade Town after saving it during the war, isolating it from the rest of the world.
  • Tae Kwon Door: Tails closes down a drawbridge in #1, so that all of the retreating Badniks slam onto it.
  • Wham Shot: The arc ends with Dr. Eggman himself eying a woman and her son through a window...

Sonic Rebound [Vs. Skunk Bros]

Sonic Rebound - Ep 4 [Resilience]: In this adaptation of the third issue of the IDW comic, Sonic and Knuckles take on two skunk bros named Rough and Tumble who have taken over a town for themselves. While not the smartest bulbs around, the Skunk prove to be formidable. But then again so are our heroes.

How well does it match the trope?
